The modern man is doomed to follow its beliefs, moral systems, and and habits into the grave, simply because people today lack both the strength and self respect it takes to ask one simple question? >why do I do believe this?

Politically, it is leading to the decline of nations. As communists and socialists rise up in America, for example, without ever questioning their belief systems...or as old, neocon warmongers beg for more war and regime change in Venezuela...we always fall victim to the same faults, because no one seems to have the guts anymore to admit wrongdoing or failure.
And personally, if I may for a minute, I feel that this is echoed in a personal sense. Almost EVERYONE I have known from an early age (childhood, through high school or even early college) has very visibly been rendered to ruin in some way. Drug addicts, standstills in life with no direction, people afraid to commit to action, both women and men unsure of the future they want - wasting away in the meantime, doing the same things they have for years.
It is absolutely heartbreaking. It is what I regret most about coming to Jow Forums. Through all the shit here, I've learned to be a better person and question, at all avenues, my belief systems to ensure I am the best man I can be.

The problem is that our brains can't process the quantity of information coming in that constitutes raw reality in a meaningful way. As a coping mechanism, we (all) assign parameters within which the data has to fit. Faggots call it your 'lense' but this metaphor is poor as it implies you can change it or notice it easily. The parameters by which we organise reality are maxims or a priori truths or things which 'are self evident' to a person. There are 2 specific problems with this. 1-it's extremely hard for a person to know what maxims they follow. They tend to be intuitively gleamed from experience, although of course it is possible to know them analytically and philosophy works in part to do this. 2- the a priori truths people structure their worldviews around are often mutually exclusive so you get people observing the same event and then yelling past each other, each arguing his own worldview and missing the others. As an aside people are pretty dumb and often make internally inconsistent jumps in their own belief systems because of emotional reasons or just by mistake. Over all I don't think there is any hope. I reccomend alcohol.
