we had rottweilers as a kid
our rottweiler bred two huge litters. when she was in heat and wasn't able to breed with the sire down the road, my mother cut a swimsuit to cover her privates to make sure neighborhood dogs didn't fuck her. so she wore a swimsuit often.
even when she went deaf, and was way out in the woods, you could call her name and it would take few minutes, but you'd see her running down the back yard to the porch.
she probably died from a kidney issue, because she started pissing the porch. when she finally died, she walked off into the woods to do it away from us, and we buried her on that spot when we found her.

there was a river with cliffs that we would jump off into the water. it was somewhat dangerous, but my friends would go to the ledge and jump over and over. but when i got to the ledge, she would start barking like crazy and the moment i hit the water, she would be in it too. just amazing. rottweilers are hands-down the best breed

looks like a good girl. just missing the bulkiness of a rott and a with longer face. looks more rott than catahoula, really.
but we would always crop the tails. i am looking at pics and i guess that isn't the standard anymore. it was painless to tie rubber bands on the tails of the puppies and they'd just fall off. i think this is the best look for a rottweiler but i can see how it might be considered cruel. i have no idea why my mother did it, but these were 100% and she sold them for like a grand each

Her and her brother in the back were abandoned by a local breeder at a boat ramp across the river behind my house.
We think it's because he was a runt compared to most merle catahoulas and she has wasn't as pure bred looking either.
She has a bad knee from possibly being hit by a car or abused since her brother is very skiddish.
But if she sees a deer she has come close to taking one down all by herself. They are extremely fast. Her brother is very very smart. He stands on his back legs and walks like a person with incredible muscle tone. The thing thats interesting about his intelligence is that he knows how to not put his full weight on you if he stands up and leans on you, very self aware.
They are extremely loving but that cuteness completely goes away if somebody they dont know approaches the car or our land.
It's amazing how fearless they are but apparently their breed is designed to hunt wild boar and herd cattle.
They are very good at walking off a leash in the woods or my land without needing to be called back.
I wouldve never believed a 55lb dog could take down a full grown deer by herself until ive seen her do it.
I also swam competitively for 12 years and they can give me a run for my money. Ive never seen dogs swim so fast.

ours got hit by a car when she was like four and never had big issues once her leg healed, where most of the damage was. but yeah larger breeds will always get this. hip issues too.

Well being that catahoulas are originated from curr dogs it's not actually a surprise he looks like a mutt.
He's more of a merle catahoula but was rejected by the local breeder who abandoned him. Not sure about him having much rott in him.

His name was smokey, and my biggest regret was not knowing just how short that time was. Had I'd know at such a young age, I probably would have done FAR more with him. I let my babygirl out to potty one night and about 5 seconds from her being out of the gate she ran about 50 yards and shook a cat to death. I was proud of her but at the same time pissed i had to go bury a cat at 11pm. There was literally no blood except for the one claw mark over her eye. I have no idea how she did it but that cats neck must have been snapped in a split second.
Ive seen her pick up armadillos and put dents in their shell. I would hate to be any animal she was pissed at.
