I mean there were several gas chambers in a camp and multiple camps scattered around germany/eastern europe. Not only that but gassing wasn't the only method used for extermination and weren't limited to the camps: mainly firing squads and mobile vans, maybe some other methods. Not only that but the timespan between when the first camps started popping up (given they weren't full on gassing them along with mobile death squads) and the end of the war makes it seem plausible. The 6 million figure is just a generalization since the accepted death count by historians is around 5.7 million.
