Organized religion is bad

It’s a net good in my opinion. It keeps people in line and gives them something in common to band together and unite with. I think that organized religion can come in many forms, like facism for example. Today’s religion however is in no way organized because of the splits between Catholicism and Orthodoxy and the million different types of Protestantism.

Religion is good
Without a common morality society crumbles, and religion is the best way to create a unified set of morals in your country

Unity is power

It's bad. Ideological bias and intellectual honesty are mutually exclusive. People come together in organized religion under an ideology. So naturally you sacrifice deep levels of honesty to conform and to tow the ideological line. The narrative asserted with organized religions are entirely man made, fallacious, and easily debunked using history. Religious ideology and all the mythological allegories that come out of them need to be kept private. Dragging others into a system that destroys ones capacity to think critically and to be intellectually honest is in no way a good or healthy thing for humanity in general.

Abrahamic regions are not religions, they are slavery systems masquerading as spiritual paths.

>In 1987 two pastors, Peter Leithart and George Grant, published a book The Catechism of the New Age: A Response to Dungeons and Dragons. Joseph P. Laycock wrote that their book condemned role-playing as allowing too much freedom, which the authors regard as a gateway to critical thinking which in turn may result in heretical thought.

It's just another form of control

Unity under an ideological bias is corruption.

Religion is good for society. Too many people need the structure a religion provides to live in a secular nation. They just find a surrogate religion, like feminism, humanism, environmentalism, etc. Christianity has been tried and tested. It's dumb to abandon it, even if you don't truly believe in it.

It depends on the religion.

Ataturk had the right idea.

Depends on the religion, its views and practices, its organisation, its policies. Personal religions/faiths/philosophies are the best imho: they're reserved, and focus on giving the individual a purpose.
Organised religion is prone to corruption, like the orthodox/catholic church, or potentially damaging schisms, like islam.

source faggot or didn't happen

I agree 100%. We've seen what happens when people choose their own morals. One man's good becomes another man's evil. which is disastrous for society.

Only one religion is good. The rest are dogshit.

only christianity since the ten commandments built the society with empathy and cooperation

>religion is the best way to create a unified set of morals
Wrong. A simple code of conduct can take care of that easily without religion. Critical thinking is the only thing in life you need to have faith in. Anything less is subhuman.

>muh enlightenment

Ideological bias and intellectual honesty are literally mutually exclusive by definition. You have no argument.

A lot of people need a reason to follow that code of conduct. Fear of God keeps the worst in line. Just look at the modern West to see what atheism has wrought.

You're not nearly as woke as you think. Your line of thought is incapable of preserving a society across a large period of time.

Look at any religious shithole and don't ask silly questions.
Belief is the death of intelligence.

>muh abrahamic religions are slavery!
>yes, Christianity has been a part of western culture for 2 millenia but it's like mental slavery or something!
Rake yourself you fucking retarded leaf nigger

Attached: 1541857581276.jpg (1024x504, 16K)

Most people aren't that intelligent.

Go worship your fuckin' kike you retarded fuckin' monkey.

Attached: image.jpg (888x894, 236K)

Where the fuck are they defined as mutually exclusive? Don't use the term "literally" if it isn't set in stone, and don't use terms like "mutually exclusive" if you haven't the slightest notion of set theory.

Not an argument you cocksucking kike

Attached: 1548953110916.png (280x320, 50K)

They can always get even more retarded, and that is exactly what religion is good for.

Give me an example of when/how critical thinking is inferior to ideological bias, and why/how/when critical thinking became antithetical to the preservation of society. Ironically you cant even begin to think coherently about this without first applying critical thinking.

Dude, read the fucking definitions. If you have more than 2 brain cells you can see that they are obviously mutually exclusive BY DEFINITION.

Religion makes people behave.

Says a literal subhuman whose former leader genocided 20 million people as soon as he forced people to abandon religion. Real progress there, Ivan

>Is religion good or bad for society?

Bad. But people need it.

Christianity is being wiped out. Especially in Europe.

So what do people do? Pick up a new religion. Socialism.

Of the two, I think Christianity is the better.

Says the brain dead moron who believes in the big bang abiogenesis and evolution.

Believing an invisible man lives in the sky and grants wishes is pretty stupid.

Sure, look at how well muzzos behave.

>lucky for him allah was fake all along

organized religions are a literal mafia

Pork is not even that good.
Anyway religion is good when you understand that 90% of the population is close to retarded.
It's easier to tell them that a magic man will punish them than trying to explain why doing certain stuff is bad over and over.

This is for you too,you absolute hypocrite.

Communism is another abrahamic religion (((they))) implemented on us for rejecting the previous one. And please don't call commies my leaders, it's rather offensive.

Islam is a religion that makes people behave badly. A good religion makes people behave good. It's all in the set of rules the religion outlines. Don't be dumb.

No.

Still waiting on the Asian it happened Evidence of Your gods, the big bang abiogenesis and evolution. And that's as it happened.

r/exmuslim is turbo redpilled, very interesting to look through

I’ve been on here since this was /new/. There are 28 boards on Jow Forums right now with Twitter screenshots as the OP. You have bigger fish to fry.

hint: morality does not have to come from religion
refer to: common sense and not being a dick

On your fuckin' knees faggot, you've got Jews to worship bitch.

Attached: image.jpg (1092x1041, 465K)

I don't believe in big bang.
Big bang is a bs theory invented by a catholic priest to adjust cosmology to abrahamic crap.

How is the west without religion today? A total shitshow

Ding ding ding . Religion at its best forms a social glue and a common approach to morality for the group to function. At its worst it's female Lutheran bishops importing Muslim rapists.

Africa is very religious and yet its people are constantly slaughtering eachother. South America is another example.

> A good religion makes people behave good.
Are you talking of christians, who burnt scientists and slaughtered neighbours for not bowing down to popes?

A large portion of the population never think critically about anything. Don’t be delusional.

>Fear of God keeps the worst in line.
Fear of god also makes men of god unnaturally powerful in a society and lets them steal and rape as they please.

So a disorganized religion is better?

I hardly care about niggers

The bible also says to not eat pork, but you don't see too many christians following that one.

religion is, overall, beneficial for a developing society but it will inevitably be abandoned after such a society experiences an industrial revolution.

Christianity is likely the primary reason why Europe was able to advance so much more rapidly than other areas, mostly because white men believed they would go to hell for committing any socially detrimental sin

Attached: 1550540917717.png (544x535, 491K)

it keeps the peasants in line

Did you miss the whole schism thing where the Catholics got told to fuck off and take the pope with them?

Religion is the single most harmful invention in all of human history. There is literally no upside to religion, at best it brainwashes retards into being virtuous for the sake of the imaginary sky wizard instead of actual goodness in their hearts, at worst it leads to large scale wars fought in the name of a deity made up by corrupt old men to control the gullible masses.

In an ideal society any moron that prattled on about an omnipotent bearded old psychopath would be admitted into a mental asylum with the specific purpose of breaking their centuries long conditioning.

It's good because it gives structure and meaning but bad because it's all bullshit. Really it all boils down to "do you want to see society stay the same or move forward" you can't move forward with religion because it's set in stone. These are God's laws, why would such a supposed perfect thing want to change? Personally I like religion, but I wish we could just get rid of the god part. It's cringe as fuck to see people act so detached from reality

Yes. Because ideological bias and intellectual honesty are mutually exclusive. If you tow an ideological line as religious people do, you are doing so at the expense of critical thinking. You sacrifice your capacity for objective truth in order to reinforce a subjective ideological "truth". That's why organized religion is bad.

Gosh, your engrish sucks.
Abiogenesis was proven over a century ago when they sinthesized urea (which was considered impossible by religious people)
And I deny the Big Bang. A catholic priest introduced that shit, and kikes shoved that down our throats.

>makes dumb as shit claim
>doesn't back it up
Ideology, religion specifically, exists to unite societies and keep them in order. People are not half as intelligent as they think they are, and by trusting your average Joe to lead a good life without falling suspect to vices and other unhealthy behaviors, you are setting your society up for failure. Religion acts as a tool to keep a population on the same page, and introduces an important concept known as self-governance. People exert self-control and temperance because if they don't they'll be socially ostracized and risk going to hell or some such thing. When you remove this TRADITIONAL aspect of human life focused on the divine, the only way to exert desirable outcomes in a population is through coercive force by a government. When you kill the idea of God, you replace it with worship of the State. So yes, your critical thinking is not "bad" perse, but when you attempt to overthrow existing social order systems, you are ceding power to government entities and causing needless disarray in your population.
I'm a mathematician with a focus in discrete structures. Clearly your understanding is superior to mine, no?

religion is terrible but religion is not religion without society and an organized group to uphold its doctrine. without a group its just a practice or idealogy. not knowing the difference is probably a reason most people shouldnt speak on it. islam is a bigger reason not to allow islam

I'm not interested in m brane Theories! AS IT HAPPENED EVIDENCE is all that matters! O save time Let's get to the nitty gritty of the matter, you believe nothing for no reason created all this, yeah? To believe such is rather bonkers because All Things that is purposeful and complex that you and I can attest for was Made. Like the responses you've posted up until now. Now imagine some jackass telling you that nothing for no reason answered on your behalf accurately to a fault the point you wanted to post void of a will, a mind or even a means by which to reach the rest of us---the responses baring your personage responded independent of you. That'd be not only impossible but stupid because nothing as purposeful can suddenly exist as perfectly for no reason.

>Ideological bias and intellectual honesty are mutually exclusive.
the term you are looking for is 'sincerity', not 'intellectual honesty', the later seems to be made up bullshit.
webstersdictionary1828.com/Dictionary/honesty
webstersdictionary1828.com/Dictionary/sincerity
what you seem to be criticizing is the use of religious beliefs as axioms (which SJWs seems to lack) to determine what is right or wrong, by the use of logic.
You can pick a religion that better satisfy your needs and desires, but you can't do something that said religion would deem bad. For example, you seem to believe that the propagation of ideas cripples one's capacity to think freely, which is false, your brain is still yours as are your thoughts, if you aren't satisfied with your thoughts, you change them, simple as that.

The problem with societies without a major religion is in its place you have a bunch of tiny religions and spiritual ideologies competing among themselves.

It is a fallacy among intellectuals that if you take religion away from the common man that he will magically become a rational, logic thinking person. No he will be just as irrational as before. At least with religion his unfounded beliefs will be directed in the right direction.

I respect protestants the most of all, but have you read that religious states have more violence than more atheistic ones? It could be false, but I really read it. And it makes perfect sense to me, because I consider religions socially acceptable psychologic disorder.

Yeah, because organized religion is literally always just a block away. Why think critically when you can join the herd and larp in meme rituals instead? Everyone is smiling like they've been lobotomized and that's more appealing on the surface than critical thinking itself.

Personal religion is better. Should be kept private, and not publically promoted as organized religion is.

Good religion is good for society, bad religion leads to places like Burma and Bangladesh.

It's working out extremely well for Christianity. Look how woke everyone is these days now that society can dictate what is God's will.

inshallah this kafir will burn in jahannam for eternity

Attached: index2352521251.jpg (205x246, 9K)

No it wasn't, you sad pathetic child. And that's why I hate atheist with every fiber of my being. A ruskie and a Brit imagined an earlier earth and then wrote erroneous documents that had no basis in reality. In short, they made believe bullshit and then the lot of you grabbed it and proclaimed it true.
Science is all that is Observable and Testable. Therefore, Provide for us As It Happened Evidence of nothing for no reason creating Amino acid molecules and then choosing solely left handed molecules unto proteins and the other prerequisites onto peptides and all that and then write DNA!

>good or bad
Depends. Islam is shit, obviously. Everything else is all right.

*TO save time....

I hate You Auto Correct!

Organized religion has demonized science (and critical thinking in general) for hundreds if not thousands of years. My claim is solid and you're retarded.

No, the term I'm looking for specifically is intellectual honesty. Dont twist my words. Look up the definition of intellectual honesty, then the definition of ideological bias. See for yourself that - by definition - they are mutually exclusive.

That theory has nothing to do with string theory.
They only recalculated all the cosmologic formula applying expansion to the etalon metre and found that world is infinite, mass inself evolves, and red shift is observed because observer shrinks (which I understood from another side, when I understood that NOTHING is the only something to which "where did THAT come from" is unapplicable.
Then I went on explaining how something could appear out of nothing, but I'm not sure you're interested in this, so I don't think I should explain it to you, because you never even dared to ask "where did god come from?"

It's just a method to control stupid people

Religion, all of it, is man's attempt to reconcile himself with God.
Man cannot do that.
God knows this, which is why He sent His Son, Jesus, to be a perfect sacrifice for our sin. He offers us a pardon. Trust in Jesus and you are forgiven. Refuse His pardon and you will bear the punishment for your sins, eternal suffering and separation from a God Who loves you enough to die for you.

To be safe for all eternity:
A: Admit that you are a sinner, who violates the Will of God, and that you need a Saviour. Repent. Turn away from your sin and toward Jesus.
B: Believe that Jesus Christ, Son of God & Messiah, died for your sins and rose again, as prophesied and recorded in the Word of God. Trust in His finished work.
C: Call on His name, ask Him to save you, and confess that He is Lord.

I'm not the least bit religious, but this is actually true. I thought a secular West would lead to a better society with an emphasis on scientific literacy and education, but all you have to do is look out the window to see that isn't how things went.

The real redpill is the educated elites of the world from the very early Popes to the Renaissance masters to George Washington and even dictators like Hitler and Stalin all knew deep down it was all bullshit but it’s healthy for society as a tool of order so they go along with it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being a pillar of the community who goes to Church, tows the line weekly and instill your wife and kids into it even if you don’t believe it deep down. Faith is largely duty to civilization.

More never to be proven gobbledygook! Science is all that's Observable and Testable and where Applicable Recreate (able). Therefore, Have you as it happened evidence of the Universe creating or recycling or being raped in the butt by another brane in this ten trillion year cycle? I.E., you'd have to provide for us the moment the other brane raped our dead dimension thereby renewing another cycle in your purported endless cycles.

>Violence is bad
In reality this could just as easily be explained as "pacifist populations are more likely to abandon spirituality"

Attached: 1535174309169.jpg (638x558, 64K)

the concept of trinity wasn't part of early christianity. it was made by Paul the jew to subvert Christianity and he succeed. God doesn't need a son he is omnipotent and all knowing. Unitarianism is the true path

>Science is all that is Observable and Testable.
Nobody observed quants when quantum physics appeared, but that theory worked and made predictions (Copenhagen interpretation is intentionally wrong. take ensamble interpretation instead)
About your aminoacids, I think this is the thing: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miller–Urey_experiment
Why are you hating? Because deep inside you're not sure.

Bad
They won't stop fucking little kids

Are you drunk, high or is English not your first language? Trying to read your posts makes my head hurt.

Attached: 1549273450562.jpg (552x640, 28K)

it's impossible. Unity is a meme as well as equality of people. We can only have a common goal but the rest is only partially same for all

Nice deflection, shifting of the goalposts, and complete ignorance of my entire post. You probably still think the Middle Ages were "Dark", don't you? Every major scientific advancement you can think of was supported and financed by religion, including Copernicus, which I'm sure was your #1 example of "religion bad science good". Go watch Bill Nye, fagtard.

Violence is bad for many reasons, allow me to give you a few:
1) it makes enemies (it's better to make friends)
2) it's animal behaviour (have higher standarts)
3) I used to fight a lot when I was young & dumb (but then I got enlightened and praised as a deity)

You've gone off the rails again. Have you As it Happened Evidence of Another Brane's dick in our dimensions vagina knocking her up? And of abiogenesis and evolution?

Religion is bad.
You either turn vegan, mutilate your dick, fuck little kids, blow yourself up or all of the above together.

If only more people were educated in science we wouldnt have to deal with this.

If your definition doesn't allow science to work for the past, call it philosophy, it's still going to be levels above your religious crap.
Science uses logic. Religions use dialectics (so commies are religion) that is my definition.

Stop protecting people that fuck little kids

abrahamic religions don't tell you to turn vegan or fuck little kids. what you see happening right now in christianity and judaism and islam is bad people using religion for their own means. the core idea of religion isn't bad

Did you read his post? He's passing all this off as a part of something void of a MAKER! READ IT AGAIN! HE'S saying they're of the mind that it's just an infinite repetitive cycle....all void of a MAKER! AND BY THE WAY, there's nothing out there that says this is repetitive or infinite. More philosophical dogma! Blech!

Religion is bad spiritualism is not.
