Why do liberals vote against their own economic interests?
>Make no mistake, at the end of the day we lost $27 billion, 25,000-40,000 jobs and a blow to our reputation of being 'open for business.' The union that opposed the project gained nothing and cost other union members 11,000 good, high-paying jobs. The local politicians that catered to the hyper-political opposition hurt their own government colleagues and the economic interest of every constituent in their district. The true local residents who actually supported the project and its benefits for their community are badly hurt. Nothing was gained and much was lost. This should never happen again."
Nice try Bezos. That's what you get for not supporting Trump while you still could.
Democracy dies in divorce rape.
Joshua Rodriguez
lol why the fuck do right wing retard corporate cock suckers think that AOC has the power to shut down Amazon?
Joseph Ortiz
Voting is an act of violence and this is the prime example.
Angel Lopez
She doesn't but she made them move their headquarters away from NYC thus fucking over her voter base
David Richardson
vote her in burgers. I want to move to states with no paperwork and live the Neet life on your hard work.
Gavin Allen
>amazon creates 25k super high paying tech jobs >real estate prices rise >cost cost of living rises >next tech firm opens up >real estate prices rise >cost cost of living rises >next tech firm opens up >real estate prices rise >cost cost of living rises >next tech firm opens up >real estate prices rise >cost cost of living rises >next tech firm opens up
its not that hard to understand if you think further than your nose.
Julian Russell
>15 hour work week cictycucks are pathetic betas >-b-but I make 60K a year and you pay 45K of it in taxes
Benjamin Watson
Didn't jew york also just boot out remmington or some big gun manufacturer costing the state tens of thousands of jobs?
is a 15 hour work week actually attainable when you think about it? we would need to lower prices somehow, and we'd need every last rentseeker parasite hanging from a rope. i think it could be possible without hurting productivity, more people would just need to be hired
Jeremiah Evans
Why don’t liberals want to pay their fair share?
Ayden Cruz
>Leo Gold: Don’t believe me? It’s all in the numbers. For a hundred years, there’s been a conspiracy of plutocrats against ordinary people. >JC Denton: Do you have a single fact to back that up? >Leo Gold: Number one: In 1945, corporations paid 50 percent of federal taxes. Now they pay about 5 percent*. Number two: in 1900, 90 percent of Americans were self-employed; now it’s about two percent. >JC Denton: So? >Leo Gold: It’s called consolidation. Strengthen governments and corporations, weaken individuals. With taxes, this can be done imperceptibly over time.
* Amazon doesn't want to pay 5%, but 0%
Jace Martin
Would the 25-40,000 workers pay any taxes?
Carson Perez
It's not possible under any metric. The money simply isn't there. Leftists demand importation of third world migrants who compete for jobs here, and are willing to work harder and for less than you, in worse conditions.
Leftists are too fucking stupid to see that they're signing their own unemployment notice, and when the brown people start to do what they inevitably always do, it will start in the cities, and the leftists will reap what they have sown.
The real estate prices rise, but so does the demand for labor, and concurrently, employment and wages. Not to mention the enormous infusion of capital these Amazon employees, and the company itself, would have brought into the community, which would have been re-invested in local businesses to cater to their needs.
And honestly? In a metropolis of millions and millions of people, the addition of ~ 50,000 new residents or so isn't going to affect prices, at the grand scale, much. Should they rise in a certain district the lower classes can simply move out into another area where they haven't been as harshly affected and commute like everyone else.
Robert Gutierrez
>She doesn't but she made them move their headquarters
For some reason the conservacucks think this freshman representative controls the entire Democratic Party and State of New York.
This is the size of her district. Literally just a few square miles of ghetto. She does not have any say, anywhere, at any time. All she can do is make radically left-wing statements for attention, and vote YES on a bill from time to time. That's it.
Sure. But why does the individual have to pay taxes and not the mega corporation? You can argue for low taxes or even libertarian societies; you can argue for high taxes, social net societies like Nordic ones. They are different strategies, but at least they are somewhat fair in that the rules apply for all. What I don't understand is arguing for having the individuals pay taxes and having gigantic corporations not pay them. Even if you argued juridical persons (businesses) shouldn't pay taxes because they aren't real persons, then why have the small business pay taxes and not the big ones? Transform NYC into a tax haven for businesses so that everyone can open up their company there and not pay taxes. Why just Amazon?
I don't know, it just comes off as incredibly unfair to me.
Joshua Bailey
I hate her so much but I also want to fuck her. It really pisses me off!
Nathaniel Butler
>wahhhh AOC is bullying me because im a right wing incel
hello leaf. yes, they did in fact vote amazon out of nyc due to amazon's non stop abuse of their own workers. it's the same reason wal mart has been exiled from the area for decades. aoc didn't do this on her own, but she was part of the people voting against it.
t. nycfag
Robert Wilson
Nigger, look up the definition of a bully pulpit. You’re an embarrassment to leafs.
Nathan Campbell
I’m just going by the New York State Budget Director. If you have a better source let’s hear it.
Adrian Evans
>not knowing what "bully pulpit" means The eternal leaf
Ryan Gray
so none
u paid amazon shills are so easy to smoke out
Xavier Nguyen
>hello leaf. yes, they did in fact vote amazon out of nyc
link to the vote?
Andrew Roberts
Replacing thousands of tax-contributing jobs of small and medium-sized businesses that get cannibalized by an anti-competitive multinational bought off with unfree tax advantages is certainly in no-one's economical interest, except for Amazon's CEO, its shareholders and the crony politicians they bought off.
Jacob Garcia
Shut the fuck up boomer.
Parker Cox
corporate slavery is the future that every single right winger fights for
u realize you're fucking brain dead and just made that up right?
Ryan Cruz
>due to amazon's non stop abuse of their own workers
You mean like making their minimum wage for warehouse workers $15/hr?
They already have a fulfillment center in NYC, by the way. But now they won't have an HQ filled with an estimated tens of thousands of high paying white collar jobs.
And that's not even considering all the tertiary benefits to the economy. The thousands of union construction workers they were expected to employ building and expanding their campus over the decades, all the money Amazon employees would be spending at local restaurants, supermarkets, malls, etc.
Jace Cooper
Go fuck yourself shithead those 40k jobs that you are talking about are all going to be taxed to hell to pay for your corporate masters getting 0% taxes. I fucking hate you.
Robert Bell
no, i was saying AOC was anti-amazon but was not the leader or instrumental in any vote like someone else claimed. i think you missed something along the way.
NYC has absolutely stupid laws that empower """local""" (((organizations))) to stop business from happening without significant kickbacks or dragging the project through lawsuits and forced arbitration for years. That's party of why Trump made such a name for himself in New York real estate: he was willing to do all the dirty work of negotiating and getting the financing to pull of big construction projects at a time when most other players weren't willing to go to the trouble, and it was dragging down the NYC economy and real estate market because buildings were falling into disrepair and disuse because they couldn't be updated with modern plans and materials.
It's all laid out in The Art of the Deal. AOC was just living up to the proud New Yorker tradition of fucking themselves over with shortsighted pursuit of bribes.
Cameron Diaz
Well at least now they aren’t being exploited. Mission accomplished!
good fuck corporations that fuck over its workers. If you want to fuck off to china be my guest go make there country better with shitty trinkets.
Xavier Turner
sure, $15 an hour. but 12 hour workdays NO bathroom breaks or you're fired, they want people to be as fast as robots and never need food or to have to piss or take a shit. it's fucking inhumane.
>t. never worked a day 15 hours is just slightly more than it takes most service professionals and tradesmen each week to set up, get to location, fuel up work vehicles, etc etc mundane shit that the remaining 6 hours a day of productivity require. Can we stop letting liberal arts faggots and college freshmen have a say in anything?
Hunter Miller
Because being a liberal is a privileged position.
Most liberal politicians are wealthy and come from wealthy families. They have the ability to vote and advocate for lower growth, turning down "bad" opportunities and suppressing development because they won't suffer the consequences of those decisions. While a wealthy background is also true on the conservative side, the principles of capitalist growth are actually understood.
Charles Fisher
actually most conservative politicians are wealthy and come from wealthy families
Read the whole post nigger. Conservative politicians might be wealthy, but they understand where their wealth comes from. Liberals do not and use their position to actively vote away the ability for others to pursue the same wealth without even realizing it.
Jordan Ross
Shut the fuck up you retarded boomer. No one gives a shit about your daddy bezo.
