At the very least it makes the world fucking tolerable. I can't speak for everybody, but I'm not under the illusion that any civilization lasts forever, and in the end, political motivations cause every single empire throughout history to fall. Eventually there will be new fucking issues and the world adapts with the times. Countries will fall, and new countries will rise in their place.
