This is such a bad take. The reason a lot of people are homeless is not because of lack of homes or because homes are too expensive. Many of them suffer from drug problems or mental health issues. Those people need to put in an asylum where they can be looked after.

I would just genuinely like to see governments hand out these unused homes to Homeless people who fell on hardtimes/people who work and simply cannot afford a home. You are right the housing market is fucked. The homeless who are genuinely beyond help be it drugs or mental problems should be put into an institution for their own well being

I would make an addendum to the petition
Government officials, according to the constitution, work for the people. We are effectively their bosses, and they are on our payroll. An employer has the right (in fact, the legal REQUIREMENT) to ask about the citizenship of their employees (see the I-9 document)
Therefore, as government officials are employees of the people, the people deserve to know the citizenship status of them. We should have access to their I-9.
