Yeah there are vids where you can see them do that. In the earlier acts probably.
Problem is that anything that could be a weapon and even protective equipment is forbidden. The police follow them around before the gassing starts and they do arrests and confiscations. They search cars for them too.
And there's no telling where the gassing will start so can't stash them in advance.
Gas masks are easier to hide at least. I think they weren't forbidden (or not forbidden as much) but there's a new law making it illegal to hide your face during a protest. It makes it a pretty serious crime actually. And a gas mask counts as hiding your face.
Anyway, kicking the grenades should be safer since you're not in contact with it for very long and boots are still allowed I hope. Might be hard to see exactly where it is when there's gas though.

France is overall more left-wing than the US, but in a more populist way than "SJW leftism" which dominates North American politics. Which is what is changing. If Macron is left-wing at all, it's in that new cosmopolitan/globalist sense that sacrifices the working class.
Yet for a class uprising of sort, the yellow vests are less commie than one might assume. Probably because a lot of them come from the countryside. Which have been economically devastated by globalism and it just keeps getting worse. But they don't relate with the elitism of the cosmopolitan left (which isn't there to help them anyway) or the nonsenses of the antifas. Most of them are probably leftists of the "I would just like to get fucked in the ass a little bit less hard pretty please" variety. The gas tax was the straw that broke the camel's back. A lot of them have a "LEAVE ME THE FUCK ALONE, NO MORE TAXES REEE" attitude, which might sound a bit libertarian, but it's not like they'd want to lose their public services. Yet taxes just keep going up and public services keep degrading. A lot of them think there's something wrong with that.
