My grandmother, great grand parents and various other family members were raped and killed during ww2 by the Japanese, and they STILL don't regret it. If you look at their "apologies" they're only sad cause they lost. In my opinion they are subhuman and the world would be a better place if America refused their surrender and kept nuking the place until they were all dead. Outside of this view I'm friendly/peaceful and I'm not saying the modern generations should all be killed now, I just can't get over their continued lack of regret. Here are my thoughts; Japan has not been sufficiently punished for the crimes of its empire. That said, your feelings are rooted in your family history and aren't even close to unbiased. Those crimes were committed by the Japanese state, not the people. Yes there are apologies in order, debts to be paid, and people to be executed, but that's it. Using nuclear weapons, in my opinion, ended up saving more lives than they cost. Glassing the entire country would have simply been an act of wanton cruelty and brought the Americans down to the level of the Nazis, Soviets and Japanese.

The problem is that, just like any other country in modern times, they have a growing hyper-nationalistic population that, while does not represent the majority of views, is becoming increasingly more vocal and sympathized with as the world becomes more globalized and immigrant populations are reaching record highs.
They are basically the exact same radical pocket of people that believe the holocaust never happened, that they need to Make America Great Again by joining the National Socialist party (aka neo-nazis), that need Brexit.
