Communism is the next stage of humanity following the capitalist stage and the socialist stage.
What exactly is communism according to Marxist-Leninists:

When I was younger I was a true believer in communism, as embarrased as I am to admit. Society and the economy is so interlaced and complex that I big sledgehammer of an ideology that is essentially "he too rich, gimme" would just destroy so much. Amazon would have never come about, smart phones or even home computers would have never been invented. Those were all the product of consumerism. Those could never have been developed by a collective of workers developing things by committee. The more I think about it the more depressing it would be.
