Taiwan also doesn't use F-16s. They do, however, use the AIM-120C... But that actually begs a curious question, how did the missile get to India in the first place? India and China have been at it like cats and dogs for decades. Taiwan is clearly no friend of China and would, perhaps, take interest in assisting India due to the geopolitical rivalry in place here.
Perhaps they got the debris from the Taiwanese to incriminate Pakistan, at least to the public... Anyone that looks at the serial numbers can identify the source quickly enough. It's all computer code. The aircraft tells the missile what the target is and then the missile is fired and from there the AIM-120 is essentially on it's own. Fire and forget.
The thing with the AIM-120, you can use datalink to tell it what to target, which means AWACs could feed it the data, and it's fired, so it doesn't need the JF-17s flight systems to do it.
Pakis have been using the AIM-120 long enough that I'm willing to bet they figured out how to fire it off from a JF-17 somehow, and it might not always work, hence the wreckage sitting in india and instead of inside a Mig-21.

I've been digging around and, from what I can tell, the United States may have warned Pakistan against using any US made weapons at all... Something about strict end use monitoring. It might be that it applies not just to the F-16s, but to the AMRAAMs, too.
If that's the case, the missile debris, which may have been sent over by Taiwan to incriminate Pakistan, could be a pretty damning piece of evidence... That said, it could be a Pakistani weapon, who the fuck knows... Everyone in the subcontinent are lying their dicks off.
