We had a similar case here, Jacqueline Sauvage murdered her husband with a shotgun, three shots in the back while he was smoking on his balcony, not suspecting a thing. She claimed she did this because she has been abused for decades, and was afraid of being killed someday. She got jailed for murder, but the media and various feminist associations hailed her as some kind of icon of feminist fighting against the evil patriarchy. The media kept talking about how unfar it was for her to be in jail until the president back then, François Hollande, used his presidential pardon to get her out.
It gave a signal to feminists all over the country : it is okay to kill your husband, as long as you have been abused (or claim to).
Fast forward nowadays, some woman state scientist published a paper with the taxpayer's money, about legitimate defense. She explained that it is a concept that needs to be banned, just like firearms, because people who claim legitimate defense are typically evil white males who kill poor dindunuffin of color and underprivileged background and victim of racism who only wanted to steal everything, rape and beat up everyone in the house, no biggie.
