not everyone's head is ready for these heady treats.

In the strangest of places...

I've been listening to the late 60s shows lately. Me playing with the Grateful Dead: instaud.io/3jet

Should've closed the album with this track.

>greatest american rock group of all time

not even close

How come the Grateful Dead were good but every other jam band, who are supposedly influenced by them, sucks?

they don't have Owsley's acid

Phish still have their occasional moments of greatness

They’d agree with you too.

I don’t even like the really long jams. They used to do really good blues covers and some country type songs. But the album that looks like pic related and play it all the way through. It doesn’t have a real name because the band wanted to call it Skullfuck. Didn’t fly I guess.

"The Grateful Dead aren't the best at what they do; they are the only ones that do what they do"

you can't recreate that kind of magic, it came from another time and space

50 years ago today this monster was recorded

I was cheated

13, well done

Thanks. There really is an energy to that. It’s there on the album I posted too. Same feeling. Even later on the dead became kinda lame. Jefferson Airplane gives me the same feeling on their early albums. Nostalgia for something I didn’t get to see. Just think to be in a room where there are hippies, hells angels, famous music acts, and cia niggers covertly dosing people and themselves.

Kys hippie FAGGOT

My all time favorite show is 3-1-69, but that whole Fillmore West run is absolute gold

OG dead heads are gun owning libertarians who just want the gummint to let them and their pot plants alone.

Is it bad that I prefer the studio versions of most dead songs?
Strangely this is the third time the grateful dead have come up for me today.

What did you just say to me you little narc?

Just listened to Europe 72 when I saw thread. You might like that one.

i took too much drugs and cant figure out how to reply to a 4chin post

but yeah if you prefer the studio version that is very, very bad brother. you have committed the most heinous of heady crimes.

you ate a grape but haven't tasted the wine. go get drunk off the hundreds of shows!
now who wants a grilled cheese

i make the best grilled cheese

if you please

Best published album, next to Working Man's. It's all about the bootlegs though. June 7, 1977 Winterland is my personal favorite.

I wonder what kind of solo tour Pigpen would have had if he hadn't kicked off so young.

This is their best song imo.

Surprised there are other Dead fans here.

Check out the one from playboy after dark. Shel Silverstein had to keep the dead crew from dosing hefner's diet coke

Can I get an orange juice with my grilled cheese bomburrito please.

Bullshit

The grateful dead - music so good people think it's a cia psy op

That's just a fancy way of saying my life is so shity that nothing can bother me.

>Patrician
It's my birthday show, and Peggy-O is my favorite song. Don't be elitist, bro, they played 2,300 shows before Jerry left this mortal coil. Legit bootleg in pic related, though. Wish I still had my cassettes.

77 was a grate year jerry is on fire!

since we are posting our favorites let me drop one of my fav jams ----===>>

youtube.com/watch?v=gYfr4khjGtw

mighty fine doses this night it seems

talk about a fucking killer jam. i looooove when you can feel them spiraling around trying to catch eachother, then boom a phil bomb is dropped and you spin off into another dimension

ever seen a My Morning Jacket show?

I've seen tony rice and Grisman a few times each, but separately

I really like 80's dead
>Bob's shorts
>Shakedown Street
>The cursed keyboardists

Literally trip off the music with no outside influence from plant or pharma.
In the zone.

72 so far, with 77 second and 68-69 third

The Dead can't touch Zappa though. No one can and no one will

It's an all together entirely different thing apples to oranges.

apples and oranges. The Dead was more about the tours and the people than just the band. It's its own thing.

Busted anus in Baton Rouge by a bbc when i was feeling near as faded as my cunt

Hive mind dead posting on 4/pol/...ive seen everything

Dead are gods.
Zappa is an overrated minimally talented contrarian who only appeals to similar contrarian pseuds.
So yeah, apples and oranges, I guess.

at least I won't go to prison for criticizing islamic rapists like euros do

Legit

america needs more love, america needs more light

It was great.

If you like 72, check out 73/74. 6/10/73 is a great place to start. Also do not sleep on the Brent era. Dude always gave it his all

True, but when it comes down to being influential on other musicians Zappa has a leg up. I mean Lowell George even got his start with him. I would even say that pfunk had more influence than GD.

The dead are probably a cia psyop but damn did they make good music

bro you just reminded me of this awesome brent jam i heard recently

youtube.com/watch?v=RdxSoF-yw2g&t=2880

We all know about the acid tests, I think the "feds" or the CIA, or whatever, just let the Grateful Dead alone because they took care of all the victims. If you were never on an OG Dead tour, when Jerry was still alive, you'd understand what a containment zone it was. You just can't abandoned those people back into society, lmao. After Jerry, with the solo tours, and Phish, and Widespread, they diffused them back into the fold over decades. Grateful Dead was basically a cult, but not a bad cult, still a cult.

Hes touring with the Wolf Bros right now. Going to see him in a couple weeks

>zappa
>minimaly tallented

It's actually Kris Kristofferson. Janis was part of the same scene as GD and they lived just a couple blocks from each other in SF. GD played that song before Janis ever released it on an album.
