Don't visit large population centers if you want to see what Canada truly is

Canada was built on nationalism and socialism. We were loyal to the British crown and thats symbolic of us putting the common good before our own individual freedoms.
Living so close to America though has shifted us further and further to liberal capitalism where now our politicians argue over who is able to sell more of Canada down south than the other. WW2 really solidified this by consolidating our industries and militaries, add on the free trade agreements that have slowly emptied out our manufacturing and real Canadian businesses.

There's remnants of the Canada that was. Sometimes you catch a glimpse of it in the hard-surely expressions of the workers in rural areas. Or the feeling of a cultural community in places out east like Quebec city or the islands.

The cities have become huge voting blocks now due to immigrants and that cultural community is destroyed. People have become individualistic that they find it harder and harder to try and understand why we are not America in the first place.

The National Policy only stopped being in effect since around 1950. That means for almost 100 years of Canada's existence we had high tariff protectionist policies against America and built up our own infrastructure with our own money and our own labor.
