When I look at North Korea I kind agree that it would be good for society overall if you banned all foreign influence by allowing only a national Intranet.

Btw, curiously German media recently aired a documentary about North Korea that was very pro-North Korean.
They showed how the average North Korean goes on vacation with his family to the beach, which is filled with them, just like Italian beaches are filled with tourists.
The whole thing had a 80s kind of vibe of old school family vacations. No one looked starved or poor.
They just had no iPhones or other shit plastic toys, that's it. North Korea, Best Korea!

You probably can't criticise Kim or the Chinese president to overtly but aside from that there's no way I can imagine people would tolerate 24/7 propaganda about their "dear leader".
I know that Putin propaganda is really soft (I speak Russian) and in no way the way the Western media claims it is.
They criticise him there a lot, but the real problem comes from the average guy.
If you say something against Putin in the wrong circle they'll bash in your head because the normie guy in Russia will believe you are a traitor Satanist serving Western Vatican aliens.
Western media always misrepresented how this work, it's not a top down Gestapo that polices your views but normies with strong patriotic or ideological convictions.
These strong patriotic or ideological convictions have been of course been propagandised to some degree from the top down, but it's the people who accept it en masse voluntarily and police those who dissent.

To give an example of how this works: Western media often claims it's unsafe to be openly homosexual in eastern countries like Russia, which might be true to some degree.
So what do you believe will happen if you go around Moscow with another guy holding hands and kissing each other.
It's not Putin Gestapo that will come and arrest you, it's normies who will be disgusted and (at worst, but still very unlikely) stomp your head. (more likely: people will say something unfriendly)
The crime of Putins supposed terror regime here is that he didn't propagandise from top down that homosexuality in public is cool and needs to be celebrated in order to fight normie impulses to hate on you or at worst even beat you up.
The same is probably true for North Korea in most cases, although I'd expect more authoritarianism in such Asian countries.
