In Islam you just recite shadah and ta da you became muslim. In Christianity you get baptized and you become a Christian. In Judaism conversion process is longer. You study the religion and to some extent the Hebrew alphabet/language.

Though this depends on the denomination. Reform conversions are shorter as far as i heard.

I can't speak for every muslim community. There are literally 1.5 billion muslims in the world. Arabs probably don't know who they are. Indonesians are probably unaware of their existence. But some people I know consider them to be more black nationalist than muslim. There's no "racism" in Islam. A Black muslim is same as an Arab muslim and an Arab muslim is same as a Bosnian muslim. People aren't divided by their race or skin color but their beliefs and piety according to Islam.
