I was amazed to find NE long island was akin to a rural wealth Missouri neighborhood. With tons of wildlife like Turkeys and Deer. Hardly what ppl think of when they think of long island.
People don't realize how big the Island is. Without traffic it will take you over two hours to get to NE Long Island from the city. People associate the island with city commuters, but it's only true for Nassau county and Western Suffolk County. Eastern Suffolk is a land of its own, more akin to upstate than the suburbs.

It is true that the areas flood with people in the summertime. But it is more the Hamptons than the truly Eastern villages. On the plus side it is very easy to pick up a visiting qt if you tell her you're a resident with a local place and not just another guido from the west. And everything with nature is top tier on the east end, even in the winter. Hundreds of miles of trails with gigantic bluffs overlooking the ocean.
Even if you don't want to move to the Hudson Valley, it is worth it to take a scenic drive in the fall along the river.
Enjoy a three hour commute to get 25 miles, it's more akin to LA.

You're right that politically it is within the hampton towns, but you understand I mean the villages like Hampton Bays or Easthampton, not the larger town entities. They are the tourist magnets. And I've found that a lot of girls, especially from the city, get wet at the idea of a young man having a house on the island. I would think nearby the beach would be even better (I'm not in walking distance to a beach).

Fishing on the south shore sucks now because of boat traffic and the fish you catch taste like shit, and that's IF you catch anything big enough to take home. North shore requires a ton of money to dock your boat or wait in line at the inlets for an hour. Out east sucks too because of how many people are out there, and the beaches suck because the water is so dirty. Most long Islanders are such pompus assholes that they go to the beach only to tan and read books so they don't mind the dirty water that they never go in.
Food is alright, the Portuguese meat houses are the best but they're expensive too, and you can find other places like them elsewhere.
Private business owners pay shit on the island because of how much they're getting taxed, I know a ton of people with mechanical engineer degrees only making 50k while their bosses drive the newest Tesla's and huge obnoxious pick up trucks.

Here's the thing user. I live in NJ and we have beaches that rival if not surpass the piddly splash-wave beaches of the bay side of either fork and are far superior to anything ocean-facing on LI.
The ONE thing LI has going for it that the NJ beach areas do not, is that LI beach areas have somehow retained their colonial village feel. NJ beaches are commercial as hell which takes away from their natural beauty.
The problem with LI is the insufferable attitude of the motherfuckers that come from there. It is the perfect combination of smarmy liberals and head-in-the-sand well to do conservatives who think Trump is bad because he talks crude but pretend like they are the "real" Republicans before he came along.
