For the past 6 months or so, I've been going to my local Hillel International and Chabad house and passed myself off as a non-religious Jew. Hillel is basically a social space for Jews of all denominations to come together and enjoy whatever event they have planned for the day. Chabad is an Orthodox-run organizations that focuses on teaching the religious aspects of Judaism to Jewish people.

I did a program called Sinai Scholars. It's basically an overview about what it means to be Jewish, the importance of reading the Torah, why you should do mitzvahs, etc. I put on tefillin over a dozen times which is basiclaly this string they wrap around your arm while praying.
I learned that Jews believe in ethnic cohesion because they have been persecuted for thousands of years. They're not as opposed to race-mixing as some of you think, but there definitely is nepotism in their community. It is a mitzvah to do a favor for a Jew, such as helping him find a job. Most Jews are atheists. Orthodox Jews are really the only ones who believe in God, and they're basically Jewish supremacists. I've been told that "Jews have superior souls" by one of them.

I have a brother who went through similar thoughts as OP years ago. He was curious and yearning for something more.
