His (or rather his sponsor's) plan is to corner the environmentalist voting bloc of the Democratic party, making him a prize VP pick for both the progressive side of the party (who are going to focus on social and labor issues) and the neo-liberal side (who are going to be shilling globalism). It's literally the only card he has to play so he's going to try to play it better than anyone else. Expect him to accuse the other candidates of neglecting to factor in environmental concerns into their proposals, and generally a lot of green energy shilling.
