This was the third SpaceX launch this year and only 1 more max this quarter. SpaceX launch rate is slowing down unfortunately... it has stagnated for 18 months now, and now it is slowing as built up fulfilled demand in 2017 and 2018 from prior years has led to lower launch rates today.

Looks like the skeptics were right, the global launch market is 100 larger payloads max a year, more than half are governmental which are often locked in to national launch service providers. This is why SpaceX seems to not be able to get to the promised 10-15 launches a quarter, but has stagnated at 5 (peak was 6) and is now slowing to 4 to 5.

I wouldn’t call Dragon 2 a “payload” per se, rather a spacecraft that contains payload. SpX-DM1 has a test dummy only as payload.

First time Dragon 2 has been to space, and it's the first American spacecraft capable of carrying humans in space since 2011.
Now that this test has gone well the crewed mission in July can go ahead.

I believe that, and know the rocket goes up. I even think the launch body does make a landing back (which is badass BTW), but then "Here, look at the hot rocket engine for a few minutes" and then "Oh, wow - you can't see shit, but it's there, believe me."
