But it's an ickle baby kitty compared to the '86 storm. That was a hurricane. This, this is just wind, accompanied by hot air from the tabloids.

To use the '86 storm again for reference, just before it hit, the famous weatherman Michael Fish notoriously said that nothing was going to happen and there would be no storm...he still hasn't lived that down to this day, chuckle.
Since then, the met has always erred on the side of over-caution, often getting things so wrong as to be as reliable as looking out ones own window.
Yes, it's bloody windy. But i've only seen 60mph max winds so far tonight.
I hope it gets worse though. Love a decent storm. 90mph would be good enough for me.
