The division of wealth is the natural result of a division of ability/competence that is reality between people. To take that wealth from them and divide it is to not only dissuade success, but punish success. The only reason you have things like public education is because there is enough excess wealth in peoples pockets to fund that. Before the market economy, people made 500 dollars per year. What can the state provide by taxing people for even half of that. National defense maybe, definitely not universal public education, or basic welfare. That's why everyone was an illiterate farmer before the industrial revolution and the creation of the market economy.

1) As a basic principle, a nation can never tax its way into prosperity, because taxation creates no value.

If you take too much from the wealthy, the wealthy have to option to leave. This applies the same entities like corporations, as it does to private individuals. If taxes become too high, people begin moving to places where taxes are lower.

Now, not only your country suffering from even more severe poverty than it was originally, but you suffer brain drain, because all the wealthy and productive individuals who can leave, will leave.

This is exactly what happened to Venezuela, this is exactly why Norks aren't allowed to leave the DPRK, and this is why the Berlin wall was built.

China is booming itself and its economy due to how little workers are paid for the amount of hours they work, but this is making American corporations go buy Chinese materials, since they prove cheaper. Although Trump has imposed tariffs on the likes of imported materials for solar panels, which American companies heavily relied on, he has no plans on subsidizing the green energy sector to reduce pollution on our end, and thus, local jobs have been lost. What needs to change is the laws that govern such trade, so that instead of losing local jobs and having to rely on imports from other countries, we can produce our own materials and export them to boost our economy, or to at least use them ourselves to provide something far more advanced and higher quality which is actually worth exporting without exploiting deals with the likes of Mexico and its imported gas.
Once the wealth moves away from a country, the massive remainder will have to get its act together and actually work towards a proper common goal, and maybe poverty issues will start mattering to everyone. Perhaps this is when the step towards the likes of a resource-based economy actually happens, so that people start working towards collective progress, and not towards taking money from others. If you don't want the wealth to move away, what you can do is implement a system which is just marginally more convenient for corporations to stay, and that definitely won't be achieved by exploiting and reducing the size of the middle class while increasing the size of the lower class.
