I'm trying to figure out my linage...what if you have ancestors who were murderers or evil people......how would that make you feel?

1500s on one line. One of my ancestors settled Watertown Massachusetts and they have his lineage back to the 1500s.

My great grandparents were Italian/Greek on my dad's side, British/Austrian on my mom's side. I'm not super certain past that, however I do know that if you go far enough back on my dad's side there is some Spanish blood in there.

Yes furthest lines into the 1500s, you start to get to the point where you see the same people cropping up when you go that far back. I have most of the lines for my maternal grandparents to at least the 1700s, several thousand individuals.

And for my paternal side, at least back to 2x great grandparents some further. Furthest I have gotten so far is a marriage in 1807, which in the parish record lists a father, but I haven't found any records of him as of yet.

Never really cared that much. What little I do know is both sides had great grandparents who were orphans, so no history there. DNA tests from other family looks like about half British Isles and half "All of modern day Europe."

I can trace my direct patrilineal ancestry back to an orphan in the late 1500's. The oldest unbroken link of ancestors I have goes back to Björn Buna in 770.

I believed this until I started looking into my own ancestry and discovered my "pure German" ancestors were part Bohemian and Silesian and anciently part Celtic, my "pure Irish" ancestors were part Norse and anciently part Iberian, and my "pure Italian" ancestors were part Greek and anciently part Goth and Syrian.

I know for a fact two out of the many hundreds I have found were murderers and several were murdered, one died at the battle of Laingsnek in 1881 against the British, another at the second battle if Breitenfeld in 1642, others were involved in various conflicts, including the French wars of religion, including the huguenot who wrote the Edict of Nantes. Earliest confirmed is mid 18th century on my mother’s side and early 19th century from my dad’s. Both were German immigrants. My Grandma thought we had some Jew blood on her side and my dad said we had some native on his but the dna test returned a goose egg for both so good news there.

One of my direct ancestors from the 1800s is pretty notable.
Got in a land dispute with his brother over inheritance or some shit, then proceeded to take an axe and kill him.
I'd have to ask my cousin for anything aside from that, though. He's into that type of shit and probably knows everything possible about my family history.
