IMO, the translation kind is less of an issue, as long as you keep in mind that the words were written in a different context and language at first. It's good to make comparisons when you can.

I come to that opinion as reading Christ's words, the gist of what he says becomes fairly apparent when you think about it, in my experience with multiple translations. Christ's words in the New Testament, in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are the most important in the whole thing; really good to read them aloud and hear them too.

KJV is fine though, try to avoid meme Bibles where they changed the gender pronouns; God (our heavenly father) definitely differentiates between men and women, God is really at the head of the household, then the man (for responsibility purposes), then the woman being servient. Women aren't slaves, or anything like that, but they just aren't men and shouldn't be expected to fit a man's role. This is a good model for a marriage by the way, and if you put God ahead of you it takes away a woman's power to attack the man, since you automatically admit fallibility. I don't follow this though, as Christ says it is better not to be married, though he says this to his apostles, and if you can't help yourself it's okay to marry. We are forgiven all things through Christ's covenant with the Father, but he raised the bar on expectations too. If you're going to be a child of God, marriage being the prime goal is a bit silly.
