The quran itself says, that new strong verses will substitute older weak ones. which means, that the newer ones simply override the old ones. Among the old ones are such tthings as "there is no compulsion in religion" while among the new ones is such things as "Fight them until everyone worships only allah" (surah 8 aya 39) The middlepart is unimportant, since the goal is clearly defined that all shall worship al illah. and its also clear, that all shall be fought, until they worship al ilah.
