>Germany has extended a temporary ban on arms exports to Saudi Arabia, imposed due to concerns about the kingdom's role in the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
>The embargo was due to expire on March 9, but Germany's foreign minister said on Wednesday the ban was being extended until the end of March to give the government time to evaluate Saudi Arabia's military involvement in Yemen's war.
>But the coalition government in Berlin is under mounting pressure from Britain and France to lift the ban. They say it prevents them from selling jointly developed equipment with German components to Saudi Arabia.

>Late last month, as U.S. officials joined Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido near a bridge in Colombia to send desperately needed aid to the masses and challenge the rule of Nicolas Maduro, some 200 exiled soldiers were checking their weapons and planning to clear the way for the convoy.
>Led by retired General Cliver Alcala, who has been living in Colombia, they were going to drive back the Venezuelan national guardsmen blocking the aid on the other side. The plan was stopped by the Colombian government, which learned of it late and feared violent clashes at a highly public event it promised would be peaceful.
>Almost no provisions got in that day and hopes that military commanders would abandon Maduro have so far been dashed. Even though Guaido is back in Caracas, recognized by 50 nations as the legitimate leader of Venezuela, the impromptu taking up of arms shows that the push to remove Maduro -- hailed by the U.S. as inevitable -- is growing increasingly chaotic and risky.
>As the standoff drags on, the urge to seek some sort of military solution will only increase. Guaido himself hinted at such an idea in the immediate aftermath of the failed aid mission. His comments got a cool official reception in Washington, Bogota and Brasilia but Senator Marco Rubio, who has helped shape U.S. policy on Venezuela, seemed to cheer them on. President Donald Trump has said all options remain on the table.
>The U.S. officials who have driven the Venezuela policy -- Rubio, National Security Adviser John Bolton and special envoy Elliott Abrams -- continue to put on a brave face, increasing economic and diplomatic pressure and tweeting daily about Maduro’s certain departure.

>There are growing signs of a potentially destabilising rift between the king of Saudi Arabia and his heir, the Guardian has been told.
>King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman are understood to have disagreed over a number of important policy issues in recent weeks, including the war in Yemen.
>The unease is said to have been building since the murder in Turkey of the dissident Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, which the CIA has reportedly concluded was ordered by Prince Mohammed. However, these tensions increased dramatically in late February when the king, 83, visited Egypt and was warned by his advisers he was at risk of a potential move against him, according to a detailed account from a source.
>His entourage was so alarmed at the possible threat to his authority that a new security team, comprised of more than 30 hand-picked loyalists from the interior ministry, was flown to Egypt to replace the existing team.
>The king’s advisers also dismissed Egyptian security personnel who were guarding him while he was in Egypt, the source added.
>The friction in the father-son relationship was underlined, the source said, when the prince was not among those sent to welcome the king home.

Ruptly youtube.com/watch?v=WVPSwJ1c5DA Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the fact that US forces allegedly do not let people leave the Rukban refugee camp leads to the “very unpleasant idea” that the camp is needed to justify the US’ “illegal military presence” in Syria. He made the comment at a press conference following talks with his Kuwaiti counterpart Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah in Kuwait City on Wednesday. Lavrov went on to say that according to a survey, up to 95 percent of the Rukban camp population are “voluntarily willing to return to their homes.”

Ruptly youtube.com/watch?v=CULfEHrUbck&t=1s The Joint Commission of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action or JCPOA met in Vienna on Wednesday, for the first time since the launch of the European-backed special purpose vehicle (SPV) in January. Representatives of China, France, Germany, Russia, the UK and Iran will join the meeting, while the US will not participate after it pulled out of the nuclear deal in May 2018. The SPV, which was promoted by France, Germany and the UK, is aimed at bypassing US sanctions and facilitating trade with Iran.

Ruptly youtube.com/watch?v=iSrRmOU_7yA The dire living conditions of the Al-Hol refugee camp in north-eastern Syria were captured in footage from Monday, as officials reportedly struggle to keep up with the reported increase in arrivals by people fleeing from the last self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) enclave near Baghouz in the Deir ez-Zor Governorate. According to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), many of the newly arrived refugees — mainly women and children — are forced to live out in the open without tents in harsh weather conditions. The camp’s food supply also risks exhaustion if the arrivals continue or increase, reports add.
The Syrian Defence Forces (SDF) are reportedly performing checks of the refugees leaving Baghouz in a bid to filter out potential IS fighters. In Baghouz, the SDF are closing in on the last piece of territory under the control of IS. On Monday, SDF spokesperson Mustafa Bali stated that the battle to retake Baghouz "is going to be over soon." One so-called 'ISIS bride' living in the camp is 23-year-old Dema Alqouetli, who said she had to leave the city of Tabqa due to shelling by the SDF and Kurdish militias. "Honestly, I didn't come to fight for ISIS, I came for jihad for God, because we are all Muslim and we have verses of jihad in the Quran," Alqouetli said.

Ruptly youtube.com/watch?v=4zGoUCAvR5s Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel said he hoped that common sense will prevail to “avoid a new arms race,” during a press conference with Russian Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev following bilateral talks in Luxemburg on Wednesday. “I am concerned about this situation [with the INF Treaty], because there is an erosion of legal instruments that control weapons. It bothers me. We must not forget that at the worst moments of the cold war, both the United States and Russia were ready to conclude a disarmament Treaty in order to stabilise the situation,” he said.
Medvedev in turn said that the disagreement over the INF Treaty does not only affect Europe. “This is, in fact, a global issue. Especially after what was said by the president of our country. Not just the missile bases will become a target, but also the places where the decisions are made on using the weapons,” he said. It is the Russian prime minister’s first visit to Luxembourg, the two officials also discussed, trade, economic and investment cooperation.

Ruptly youtube.com/watch?v=RTwJNI5cSFI Russian President Vladimir Putin said that “129 personnel officers and 465 agents of foreign special services were intercepted” last year by the Federal Security Service. He made the statement during his speech at the annual FSB board meeting in Moscow on Friday. “We see that foreign intelligence agencies are trying to increase their activity in the Russian direction,” he said. “Over the past three years, cases of coordinated cyber-attacks have increased. They consist of several related acts,” he said, adding that last year the FSB recorded around 17,000 attacks and describing them as “well-planned, large-scale operations that can seriously damage the national interests of our country.” Putin also praised the FSB’s work in reducing the number terror-related crimes from 997 ten years ago to nine last year, while stating that the number of prevented terror-related crimes remains high at around 20 per annum.

Ruptly youtube.com/watch?v=1vGeBky4iug Venezuela opposition leader Juan Guaido criticised the government's decision to expel the German ambassador to the country, in a speech to the National Assembly on Wednesday. "They are threatening an important country in Europe who are offering humanitarian support to Venezuela," he said of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro's government. Guaido, who declared himself interim president railed against what he termed "usurpers" in high office. "They don't have any legal status to declare anyone persona non grata. Everybody in Venezuela know who's non grata here." German Ambassador Daniel Kriener was among the diplomats who helped Guaido return to Venezuela on Monday by meeting him at the airport. The government declared Kriener persona non grata and accused him of meddling in internal affairs. He has been given 48 hours to leave the county. Germany and several other EU nations recognise Guaido as head of state.

Oh, let's not forget that Poroshenko steadily destroying any and all relevant Ukraine production chains. Who can possible benefit from it? Russia. In fact we can't name one move of Poroshenko which wasn't of benefit to Russia which can only mean that Poroshenko is true Kremlin agent. You see what I did there?
