The CLEP are tests that you can take to earn real credits in certain areas of study. Even if you don't earn a degree- these exams prove to potential employers that you have the knowledge and skills as they are administered by the college board. The college still provides the credentials but earning credits by exam is a way to side-step normal university procedures and it's such a great idea that most people don't even know about it and colleges don't advertise it.
