Joining the US military?

All dying for Israel aside, is it worth joining the military after college? We are at peacetime right now so do you think getting a noncombat MOS would be worth it?

if you do something that actually gives you some sort of qualifications sure. infantry fuck no you just die for israel

If you're planning on joining after college go to OCS. Trust me, you will be happier.
>t. Prior enlisted

Yes, I would recommend it if you pick an MOS that could pertain to a job you would want in the civilian world. I joined the Marines as an 0311, which doesn't translate to the civilian world at all. That said, I am gainfully employed and wouldn't have the job I have now without being former military. It helps a lot when you are facing a hiring panel or manager. It shows a modicum of experience and discipline.

become a pilot of any kind. While becoming the flashy kind of pilot is hard the crappy kind that flies transports around exist in all branches and you get flight training and flight hours, allowing you to fly commercially, probably still transport.

While pilots do not tend to get paid much, you get to be a pilot, and soar over all the troubles of the world. Pilots are really better than the rest of us.

How many people that apply to OCS out of college actually get in and become officers? Assuming one isnt braindead retarded and knows what they're doing of course.

It's not peace time, if you go to afghanistan you still get a combat patch. Don't join unless it's for the right reason or if you find yourself deployed you'll just waste good tax player dollars with your weakness.

Support MOS's are great, necessary, and can enjoy doing "soldier" things here and there.

I’d usually troll you and give you dumb advice, but as a veteran, it was worth it for me... If you don’t choose infantry, it’s worth it. Lots of benefits. If you have a bachelors already, you can go into the Army as an officer or enlist as E-4. Pretty decent pay both ways. No expenses either. Up to you goy. Good luck, brother. HH

Yes, but don't expect all of your social life and psychological problems to magically disappear in the military.

Former Army fag here. Spent 6 years as a 12B, Combat Engineer.

All memes aside, it depends. I got out shortly after they started making changes to better accomodate transexuals. Both pre-op and post. IIRC, they had just allowed one to change their gender marker in DEERS a few months before I finished up. I thibk that was about 2-3 years ago.

Any way. Again, it depends. What MOS? If you want something more hands on, request a line/company unit. Otherwise you may find yourself as a pencil pusher up in battalion or brigade, regardless of MOS.

You will need letters of recommendation from 3 professors and 2 non-professors. I can assure you, there will be several candidates that will have recommendation letters from colonels or above. You need to score high on the ASVAB and you need to have competitive grades and PFT score.

I regret it.

Thoughts on 31E Resettlement Specialist? (Military prison guard) Know anything about it?

I thought people go into the military to get free college?

If I could go back in time, I'd go before I went to college. Graduating this semester though so too late for that.

Do you wish to pursue a career in law enforcement? That or military police would definitely help you attain a career in that field. If I were to do it all over again, I would've joined the Air Force, became an air trafficker controller and applied to the FAA for the same position. It's a very high paying job at busy terminals, lofty schedules, guaranteed rest periods, amazing retirement, etc. The FAA loves to hire former Air Force controllers.

Lmao true. Shlomo can send us to war tomorrow if he wanted to. Maybe this isn't a good idea

Air traffic controller is something to think about for sure. I've had a couple family members go to Army so that's why I was leaning more towards Army. Thanks for the advice.

look into 15q

Fuck, didn't even know that was an MOS. Wow awesome

What are “competitive grades”? Guy in a class above me graduated with a 2.6 and got commissioned.

OP is definitely a fag

You need 3.5 or higher in the Marines to even be considered. If he was accepted with a 2.6, he must've had a serious recommendation letter from a politician or a military officer. Some guys volunteer to work on a governor or senators campaign and in return, obtain a nice letter of recommendation for OCS. Also, his PFT scores were probably perfect and perhaps he had a way to explain the lower GPA; ie working full-time, raising family, etc.

>I thought people go into the military to get free college?
They will also pay off all student loans, so that's kinda like free college. College is also paid for while you're in.

>Air traffic controller is something to think about for sure.
Yeah, it pays well on the outside, but the hours and stress can get to people.

>I've had a couple family members go to Army so that's why I was leaning more towards Army.
If you're technically inclined, and can get a security clearance, I'd recommend 25 or 35 series MOS. Pretty chill jobs, and the pay on the outside is fucking great. A lot of jobs only hire those people that worked in those fields in the military, because you can't get the hands-on training anywhere else.

>You need 3.5 or higher in the Marines to even be considered.
Army standards for OCS are lower, and a lot of them come from families of officers, so they have written letters of recommendation. Also, Army OCS isn't hosted on the Farm.
