The 6% proportion of the dog population statistic is bullshit, though. The site dogsbite.org put that statistic out there, sourcing "ads for puppies, in magazines", magazines they refuse to specify. Shelter data suggests pits may be 30-50% of the dog population, when you account for pit mixes. They're in the top ten most popular dog breeds in like 43 states.
There's no way they're only 6%, they're popular in the ghetto, the barrio, and the trailer park.

Yeah...he's a problem. He didnt show any extreme signs of aggression towards the other dog. I even got one that was submissive and smaller. I didn't just immediately leave them aline together. Everything seemed fine for a couple weeks and then one day I came home to find him disembowled and Mike (the lab) staring at me.
I thought about. He's really not aggressive at all towards me or my gf. He's got a minimum security pen where he'll live out his life. Funny thing is he doesn't mind birds. They'll eat his kibble and he just watches them.

To be fair a study like that should only count dogs with the capability to kill a human. If over half of dogs are Pomeranian sized ankle biters, for example, then 6% is a much more reasonable size. Imo pit bull aggression has more to do with the absolute dregs of society that idolize them and obviously don't train them. Meanwhile you have breeds like Dobermans that are just as deadly but aren't owned by ghetto thugs and are usually trained and obedient.

Idk about other pitbulls but mine makes quite a good guard dog. It follows me around everywhere, for example if I go gardening outside, it will stay outside exploring the yard and scanning for threats until I go back inside. Really sweet with people too, never had any problem even around kids, I do watch it carefully though. It's 7 years old now.

It just came to my house one day as a cute puppy, I think a breeder abandoned it. Started feeding it and it never went away. Really helped me through my depression with its cuteness. She's really observant and knows exactly when I'm about to do X because of the moves I make. Hangs around in the kitchen when we cook...will sometimes politely turn away from everyone and issue of a grumpy bark if no scraps were given.

I get that. He's never in contact with anyone else unless he's on a leash with a muzzle. He's in a pen with an 8 foot fence, and his pen is in my yard surrounded by another six foot fence. He's not an escaper, he's cool at the vet. If we ever have a kid he'll have to go down, but he's fine in his prison. I don't live in a city. My neighbors know about him. He's a good boy, he just hates everything, but so do I so I understand.
