Long island is fine, that is, if you don't have to leave Long island for anything or frequently. Of course though most jobs here are in the city and that's the REAL problem. For instance if I was self employed and could work at home or in town it wouldn't be a big deal.

I would prefer to stay somewhere in the region just with less people. I used to do a lot of camping in the whole region since I am an Eagle scout (if that means anything anymore). Gun wise northern mid-west would be better for gun laws, I personally think at a certain point the move will be to get one's firearms through the black market (especially for something higher grade) or to build one's own firearms regardless of where one is in the nation.

Well Michigan is the sports men’s paradise and the Great Lake state, so the fishing is amazing. Sturgeon, salmon, trout, all the sport fish you could think of and the best blue ribbon rivers this side of the Mississippi! We also have 11,037 named lakes.
