Our medical system is fucking horrendous. Thank god I've got insurance that'll pay for private clinics, or even treatment in the states. Waiting months or even years for surgery is insane, life's too short for that shit. You can go private and be treated within a week. Even if you have to pay out of pocket, their prices aren't that bad.

bankruptcy protects certain assets, there is federal regulations or many states have even more generous protections. so generally when someone declares bankruptcy they get to keep their home, car, home furnishings, etc. what they'd lose would be other property, recreational vehicles, stocks/bonds, etc. really the only people who complain about having to file bankruptcy over medical debt are mostly retards who think they should get free care and not have to give up their vacation home or RV.

He couldn't afford healthcare, but since he was working, he was making too much to be eligible to the public system. Now he wasn't rich, he could barely afford to pay his rent, but apparently, the state set the bar so high that no one except people who are almost living on the streets could get into the program.

So he went years without being able to get health care he needed and he ended up getting so sick that he couldn't work anymore. Now, since he doesn't work anymore, he finally eligible to get on the amazing public healthcare system you mentioned. By that time, the cancer he had 6 years ago that was perfectly treatable, metastasized and the amazing healthcare that was provided by the state couldn't do shit to help him anymore because it was caught too late.

All this could of been avoided if he had access to healthcare. He didn't. So instead of having the state cover his 80$ blood test, which could of detected his disease in time and treat him easily with cheap drugs, they ended up killing him and spend over 500k+ on treatment that was ineffective.

Do you get why your system is shit yet? Your system kicks in right at the end, when it's too late.
