Fun fact about aluminum: Before modern times and access to cheap fossil fuels for smelting energy, aluminum was as valuable as silver. Top-grade aluminum is still nearly as valuable as silver, by equal weight.
Finely powdered aluminum, on the order of 2 micron or so, forms great explosives with oxidizers. Not high explosives, but still useful for military purposes.
