There's no realistic way to locate millions of fire arms that are out there that there is a literal zero of paper work on. So the blood bath of going door to door isn't worth it because it won't even get a decent percentage of arms out of the population's hands anyway. Im not sure of the state by state intricacies of 'background checks' either but i assume some states do not have rigorous medical as well as criminal background checks, and from what i've heard there are sometimes NO waiting periods, and there are gunshow purchasing loopholes that can allow almost anyone to buy large quantities. And i read a statistic that some incredibly small percentage of Americans actually store their firearms in a gun safe. In Australia its a necessity.
