I have yet to hear anyone explain how it won't cause prices increases. Yes, it's not inflation. But he's taxing the rich more right? The rich don't pay rent, they own their houses. Majority of middle/lower class people rent. You now give them $1000. Landlords raise prices since everyone can pay that much more now. And this example is just housing, but would apply to all consumer goods.

Millions of young people are and always have been afraid to work. Their first job(s) can be scary as fuck. Fear of failure. Fear of the unknown. Fear of dealing closely with people.
So give these peolpe free money and they will never overcome their fears. In fact they will become even more afraid as they get older but have yet to develop any meaningful work skills. And they will feel like they are losers because, you know what? They will become losers.
UBI is the worst thing that can be done to people just starting out. Now perhaps you are different, possess an abundance of confidence, will aspire to achieve in addition to getting free shit. But you need to understand that millions are not that way, increasingly not so as social media and video games erode social interaction skills.
The same outcomes as UBI can be accomplished through more productive ways such as lowering the cost burdens on workers while still encouraging people to seek jobs. Health care, earned income tax credits, pay for education so kids out of college are not immediately saddled in debt.
And, no, jobs are not going away. Many of today’s jobs will, but new jobs will come along. This has always happened. Automation is not new. There are seven million unfilled jobs today because there are not enough skilled workers, or too many strung out on opiates. With birth rates falling the laborforce is going to shrink and we are going to need massive increases in automation along with a fully employed labor force.
UBI is the ultimate black pill for losers.

Rich people don't keep their money sitting in a savings account that's losing to inflation. They invest it in stocks, real estate, etc. If that investment isn't beating inflation, then they'll move their assets to something that will. If there is nothing that beats inflation, then the whole country is going to have problems, not just the rich. And those problems will definitely affect the poor before the rich (I.e. not being able to afford food).
