These corporations need to be regulated, and the only option to do that is for the government to enforce stricter regulations on them.

The way I see it there are two options:
1. 'large government', small corporations - the standard of living of the population is determined by the government
2. small government, large corporations - the standard of living of the population is determined by corporations

Considering that the only objective of corporations is to generate more profit regardless of the cost to the population, option 1 seems more viable. At least there are means by which one can hold the government accountable - though they could be more effective.
