The military industrial complex isn't about fighting, it's about getting contracts by promising world domination and then spending for 20 years to deliver something that doesn't work.

if su35 and f35 see each other at the same time (dogfight) the su35 will win its faster and more nimble

the thing is the f35 is designed to see the su35 before the su35 sees it meaning the su35 will be flying around like nothings happening and then boom its destroyed by a missile

F-35 isnt designated as a air superiority fighter, thats what the F-22 is for. Regardless, both would kill the SU-35 before the ruski would know they were there.

>Regardless, both would kill the SU-35 before the ruski would know they were there.
this.. Su-35 is a fucking joke.

it wasnt meant for usa

Attached: Dd5nVhUU0AAB-r5.jpg (984x615, 270K)

These jets don't exist in a vacuum. Russia has a substantial integrated air defense system. Whether or not the su35, itself, can perceive the target is irrelevant.

Attached: 5a0f1436fc7e9324038b4569.jpg (900x506, 138K)

It is a concept that sounds good, but it ignores 2 things:
BVR attacks have poor kill per missile ratio, because the further the missile is fired, the easier it is to avoid it.
And both planes will be probably be detected by ships/ground based large RADARs that will share infos.
Once detected, evasive tactics will be ready to dodge the few missile the JSF can launch.
In such scenario, the f35 is in a bad situation against most opponents. Because they will be able to reach VR combat and even dogfight.
And the JSF is too slow to run, to underpowered to climb, too fat too manoever, and has a big hot engine easy to lock with IR systems.
Its only chance are to crush the enemy through numbers, which is actually something the US can afford, but not the other countries.

Why cant USA sell us some of these beauties instead we have to take their shitty f16.

Haha check it out, its the resident military tech illiterates ready to vomit Lockmart astroturf on command
Please go ahead and tell everyone here how the magic jet fighter "sees" the Su35 and launches a missile at it, without the Su35 knowing
Should be funny

>Thinks Su–35 is better than the F-35....

Attached: stop it.gif (500x267, 999K)

Advanced warning and targeting systems dumbass.

Americans can't admit that they are behind 50 years in military tech thanks to the military industrial complex and their constant thieving.

Bring up vietnam and how they lost...same type of retarded reaction

how do you shoot down a stealth plane?

Ruskies' tech always looks good on paper but we've seen as recently as Syria how it actually works and it's a fucking joke. I don't care what Russians put on paper because it's almost always a fucking big lie. Like their fucking joke of a carrier.

And if it is to be stealthy, it only has a couple missiles.

Multirole vs. Fighter
Or something along those lines. F35 is hella expensive for some stealth that I'm not sure I'd put too much value in. If shit gets real then I imagine it'll be like German mines and torpedoes during WWII, a counter measure will be found for a fraction of the price.

Per unit it's CHEAPER than the euro fighter LOL.

Ask the serbs.

F-16 is better than F-35

PFFFHAHAHAHAHAHA we got one boys

Go on kiddo tell us about this "advanced targeting" and what kind of magic it uses!

It is about enriching Lockheed Martin shareholders, user. Don't tell me you buy into "if a corporation built it, that makes it superior" meme

Dude, it does have lots of sensors and tech. SO that could happen. Of course, it will be detected when it fires and long range missiles are not exactly reliable.

You do know it can holds nukes right?

it's a subsidy for the plastics industry

>**hold**

this, you guys better not look at the money the sunk into finding a replacement for the M1 Abrams and the M2/3 Bradley .

>not realizing all those german engineers got blacked and beaned over the last 70 years and our engineers are all mutts and poos while russia's are still russian.

because the f-16 was designed by white men

>it will be detected when it fires
Jonigger why are you helping this kid? Its not fun this way!
>it has sensor!
Sensors that beat out AWACS or radar installation coverage? I dont think so. Stop falling for Lockmart stories

Russians are the most mixed raced people on the planet, also the F-35 was designed by the British(mostly)!

Attached: Our new jet.jpg (960x639, 43K)

Attached: Night testing British F-35's.jpg (700x394, 24K)

of course everything is multirole these days lol. demand for airstriking terrorists is too high I guess...

The same shit happened with the F-22 Raptor. Everyone bitched about it, said it was a piece of shit. And yet nowadays it's deemed one of the greatest.

f22 is so much more aesthetic than 35

twin engine >>> single engine imo

>it can't even hold it's nukes anymore...

>How they lost
>We killed way more of them than they did of us
Vietnam was lost due to political response at home. We are six miles from the Vietcong HQ in Cambodia. Victory was within our grasp. However, the fucking left wing hippies pressured our government into quitting. Such is the life of a democracy.

Looks like the lid of a fucking maytag.

>F35
Its good(if stupidly expensive) at what its designed to do - carry shit pilots on auto and fire from far away without retaliation.
>Su-35
Only as good as the pilot that flies it. Id say in a confrontation between the two styles nire will be resolved by the support they get.
Do Americans get their aircraft carriers instantly sunk by the subs or other hypersonic missile carriers?
Can Russian s-400 or s-500 that will be in service in 2020 reliably destroy stealth?
Nobody knows for sure.

it was a pointless war anyway. meat grinder and weapons testbed that accomplished nothing else

look at this asshole talking like he knows something

also in communicates with every other part of military operation like nothing seen before. The bad press keeps money pooring in, and thats just what we talk about having.

The f-35 has a record saying that it is never meant to engage a su-35 in combat, because it can detect it from so far away that they'd never need to meet on the battlefield.

we dont spend trillions just to have an f-35 lul

Soviets can't admit that they are behind 50 years in military tech thanks to the failures of communism and socialism
Bring up Afghanistan and how they lost...same type of retarded reaction

I can make stupid irrelevant posts too.

It was as pointless as any other war of the 20th century. WWI was a testbed for new weapons and tactics. WWII was a response to that war, as was Korea. Vietnam was the same as WWI, but there was no response to it other than pulling out like a cuck. The wars we are engaged in now and have been the past 40 years are all a testbed for the MIC.

Now that we're bored of the desert theater. The next is going to be the Venezuelan jungle.

>Using the fucking shit stovl one for carriers

Wow you guys are dumb

Dogfighting doesn't happen anymore. Hasn't for a hell of a long time.
These planes are made to fly stupidly fast and stupidly far, dump a payload then get back without being detected or shot down in the process.

These planes will never "see" each other either. They're full of so much sensory equipment that they can detect an enemy plane or missile from miles and miles away.

Theres so many ways to shit on your face, pick one Im all good with it, homeboy
Did you know that Su variants carry between 8 to 12 BVR missiles?
So take your pick, are we dealing with a "stealthy" F22 that has fuck for missiles or a loaded out one that's already been detected as soon as it entered the area?
(Im honestly not even gonna talk about the bucket that is the f35 holy shit what an embarrassing slow shit-jet)

Anyways, the F22 or the Su35 fire the first salvo, would you like to continue?

Your fucking Retard planes couldnt handle a Ju 87 even if they fucking tried

Immediately stop posting you dirty military illiterate

SU-35 with a newtype pilot > F-35

>Mentions how stealth capabilities and advanced warning systems allow one to see the other first

B-b-but Russian air defense too!

I thought we were talking one on one? Because America also has an air defense. I guess anything to deflect from the truth that Russia produced the wrong aircraft, albeit very capable and nimble side by side, just wrong for this match up.

The last recorded dogfight happened back in 1999.

The F35 will eventually control and feed sensor data to a drone fleet, SAMs, as well as other fighter aircraft (F22>>Su35).
Its not meant to be a fighter as much as an integrated platform.

>Dogfighting doesn't happen anymore. Hasn't for a hell of a long time.
That's because there wasn't really a war between equal powers since ww2. Not because the concept itself is somehow invalid.
>These planes are made to fly stupidly fast and stupidly far, dump a payload
Well if you have a great power like Russa or USA, the problem is that all their cost is heavily monitored and you cant just park couple of miles of the coast and fly/bomb at your leisure like you can in Syria. You need to be far away so your carriers are not in danger and then actually fly close enough to dump your payload. And enemy fighters can be there to ruin your flight.
So it could definitely comeback in ww3.

*AHYUK*

No.
The only ground based radars that reliably detect stealth have wavelengths that only work at short range.
The "Serbians figured out how to track stealth" is a meme. They got lucky in one of thousands of sorties.
Stealth is very relevant.

>It was as pointless as any other war of the 20th century.
I won't disagree with you on that
although the outcomes of the world wars wars were much more important (end of hereditary autocracy, end of fascism). Vietnam could have gone either way without affecting history much

There's an entire F35 variant specifically designed for carriers and if you're not using it on carriers, you're retarded

the vertical landing version can't carry anywhere near enough payload and it also doesn't have a sturdy enough frame to be catapult launched and hook recovered, further decreasing it's effective payload

>when the illiterate falls into your trap
And that dogfight was against a mig29 export version with almost NO electronic warfare kit and most probably inoperative systems
So a MODERN jet went into a dogfight with THAT
Would you like to continue or will you finally stop posting you streetshitter memeflaggot?

just bored
did it for fun
learned some stuff

This. It always pisses me off when some fag claims this shit. If the politicians just allowed the army to do what it does best it would have been a sweeping victory.

Sunk cost fallacy. At this point they've pumped so much money into the F-35 program that it HAS to work. If they decided to scrap the F-35, heads will roll for such a gross misuse of military funds.

Iran-Iraq was relatively even footing and iirc featured dogfighting
not, like, wwii dogfighting, but pilots performing airplane combat maneuvers, picking up the occasional gun kill / forced crash landing, etc

How many battles did Vietnam win vs the US?
Right.
The US was already out of the country when South Vietnam fell.
The US didn't see it as worth it to kill every Vietnamese in order to save them from Communism. Even tho it absolutely could have.
Politically, it was a loss and a win for the Communists.
As a purely military, no person that understands military tactics would argue the US military lost. Even Tet was a failure. And we eliminated their entire airforce so badly the Russians replaced it several times. This despite Russian and Chinese assistance.

The Serbs got btfo.
The radar trick to "detect" a stealth they used has limited range and directional reliability. They literally got lucky.
There is no reliable way to detect a stealth aircraft by radar.
IRST or Satellite are the only current methods and even they can be fooled.

Its not plastic its carbon fiber.

>F22>>Su35
Well in a dogfight su35 is better, because of the 3d thrust. They have the same speed but f22 is in trouble because of the lesser maneuverability.

Russia DNA: Does the F-35 Owe Some of Its Inspiration from This Mysterious Jet?n

The Yak-141 Freestyle may not technically count as a predecessor to the F-35, but the JSF does seem to have at least some Russian DNA floating around its engine design — and as the F-35 came to fruition in the United States, the Yak-141 Freestyle died a quiet death in Russia. However, if a resurgent Russian defense industry chooses to move forward with a carrier-based VTOL aircraft, at least one Russian legislator has called for the Yak-141 to be revived , most likely with a stealthier new look for a new Cold War.

For all the yelling and shouting over the Department of Defense’s much-maligned F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program, there’s an unusual, often overlooked footnote in the trillion-dollar project’s history: its origins as an experimental Soviet fighter that only fell into Lockheed Martin’s lap because a desperate Russian aerospace company needed some cold, hard cash.

Before the F-35, there was the Yak-141 ‘Freestyle’ multi-role vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) fighter born during a tumultuous period in Russian military history. Though the Yak-141’s first flight in 1987 was a revolutionary contribution to the development of VTOL systems, the hovering death bird was largely developed as the Soviet Union came apart at the seams, and the newly-broke Russian military was in no position to continue development of the new aircraft after the Berlin Wall.

Almost entirely true.
There was no winning Vietnam without killing more than half the population. In the Cold War arena of ideological competition this would have made us look exactly like commies portrayed us.
I agree militarily Vietnam got absolutely btfo and even their generals admit this.
If it were a war of anihilation it could have been won easily. But it was a stupid "police action, hearts and minds," feely cia bullshit war.

You do know the US can see every sub in the ocean right? Good luck.

there's no such thing as dogfighting anymore, jets are used for supporting infantry and attacking enemy supplies.

>Would you like to continue
Get a load of this pole smoking sperg. Lol, what an utter moron.

>Su–35
*stalls and smacks into the ground again*

>What did America mean by this?
They mean that there is nothing more patriotic that squizing the government for years and years dripping everysheckle for them until they decide to go with another thing.

Security means nothing
Patriotism is death
Citizenship is a joke
Corporations is everything left now, and americans exist only to be drone workers and consume while the industrial military complex keeps drainging their lives.

youtube.com/watch?v=OyBNmecVtdU&t=488s
You been warned and did nothing.

God damn it read the thread

when jews are rotting out a country, one of the common symptoms is overly expensive and ineffective, often faulty war equipment.

>IRST or Satellite are the only current methods and even they can be fooled
That's actually not true. UHF radars can track stealth.

World's fastest lawn dart. If a poo in the loo ca shoot down an F-16 with a Mig 21 then who knows

Attached: l04he.jpg (399x385, 29K)

you know what it could really be some 12D chess shit, todays military weapons development is a very complicated, advanced thing

mfw our pilots are retiring just due to the retarded purchase of old fucking jets from Australia, our government everyone.

Some units during BMQ in our military don't even get fully kitted out, it's shit honestly.

Attached: ok.jpg (395x428, 22K)

>You do know the US can see every sub in the ocean right? Good luck.
Sure and Putin can see you fap every night. Broad empty generalizations have no practical value. Also it doesn't matter if you can see them. What matters if you can stop multiple hypersonic cruise missiles cumming at your aircraft carrier. The answer is no.
>cnbc.com/2018/03/21/hypersonic-weapons-what-they-are-and-why-us-cant-defend-against-them.html
>America's top nuclear commander said the U.S. doesn't have defenses against hypersonic weapons.

I think you’re right, Julio.
I’m going to load up my family with backpacks and start walking south... going to escape this American hell-hole for the utopia that is Mexico.

Attached: lolmig.jpg (3300x2550, 752K)

yup, its about states reps and senators telling congress to budget this for them, for jobs. They don't even care if it really works.

>only we can do this
These weapons jerk off threads are shit. If shit were to hit the fan, so much firepower would be flying all over the place it wouldn't matter. Everything would explode.

>going to escape this American hell-hole for the utopia that is Mexico
Don't bother. US will be Mexico as soon as Trumps term is over and demonrats open the borders.

No. 3D thrust is a meme. Literally. It offers no advantage over the control surfaces on the wing and elevators.
The problem with the su35 that makes it outclassed is its stability. The f22 is an aerodynamically unstable aircraft by design, which allows it to fly sideways with stall and with less bleed off of airspeed. This is why the f22 requires powerful software to fly stable.
The su35 is stable by nature and thus less maneuverable. Its a 4th gen aircraft.
So no. You are incorrect. Which is why the Russians are trying to duplicate the f22 as we speak with the SU57/PakFa
The other key feature are the composite turbine blades and thrust to weight ratio of the f22. Something classified and why the US will never export it.
The Russians built a beautiful aircraft in the PakFa. But their engines aren't where they need to be. Im sure they will get there. The Russians are capable engineers just with far less resources.
>t.Aerospace Engineer fag

*without stall

>These weapons jerk off threads are shit
Nobody is holding you hostage here friend. I like war threads.

Opening up hypersonic arms race with the US will end badly (again) for Russia.

Also, there is zero proof of being able to detonate a nuclear warhead while traveling at Mach7 +. Not saying impossible, only saying unconfirmed.

Our doctrine doesn't emphasize air defense systems as much as Russia does. Moreover, it should be impossible for the f35 to detect a target without also revealing its position to said target. That's just the nature of radar.

Robocop predicted this.

Don’t be salty, Ivan.
We’re actually working on our problems here.

and I bet the next fighter jet is the most expensive.....fucking retard.
