In a highly labor mobile economy like USA you have a large replacement pool, unless you want timmy to work as a landscaper for 30 years, or as a brick layer. Instead people can move up the chain, start their own business, switch careers. take sabbaticals, dont get me started on the boomers who want to work into their 90's. You need to have an ever expanding labor pool to keep the economy going.
