You have the right idea, that it's not going to be this one event, but it will not take that long of a time. As soon as social cohesion is gone, and it's already gone, you will one day find yourself in accelerating decline. Most like there will not be a war. If we could balkanize it would be a good scenario. But I don't think we will. There will be another more brutal regime that will put a nail in the coffin of an empire. But this shit ends with economic collapse that most people will not even be surprised by. It's pretty standard way to go for any empire or successful organization. At some point the will to exist is lost. For countries it's best to fall apart, otherwise it is followed by a totalitarian regime that forces the losing side to abide by whoever starts the totalitarian phase. We'd be lucky if we can break up into more like minded territories, but it's just not the case.

Large nuclear exchanges are not likely because of MAD. An economic crash may trigger mass civil unrest and revolution. I think they probably have contingency plans for any economic collapse though. Coronal ejection taking out the satelites or the start of a new ice age would make things spicy. I keep feeling that the elites will ride everything out until they manage to implement total mind control over society using advanced AI though.

Even if overpopulation is a meme, continuing to overpopulate the world and turning it into Pajeet Land will create the worst dystonia ever. People will be seen as being cogs in a machine rather than humans

WW3 whenever it happens. Not even joking. It doesn't take many nukes to 1) create an artificial solar flare effect on all electronics, 2) create so many dust particles that the sun is "blocked out" for years, 3) create a mini ice age or "nuclear winter." It's quite an interesting subject and 90% of people will die at minimum from food shortages due to almost no operation technology and lack of sun and cold weather. Rest be assured once the nukes start flying between countries its over. You won't most likely be killed in the blasts, but you will shortly there after form it's effects outlined above.

Pajeets are happy, though. They don't feel like cogs in a machine. They, experience improvements in their lives. It's the collective West that has the third or by now even fourth generation experiencing drop in living standards. Pajeets and the people you think will cause dystopia don't see it this way. It's you who live in a diytopian future. The better question is what happens when there are several generations that don't experience improvements in their standard of living. It's not good.
