Identity Theft

Someone opened a Verizon account in my name and I just got a bill from them. I don't have the willpower left to deal with this right now. I really don't want to call anyone or go file a police report. If I ignore this what will they do?

Completely destroy your credit and possibly also your job prospects. File a police report, contact an identity theft specialist firm, contact Verizon, then go to the sites of Equifax, Experian and TransUnion, set up accounts and freeze your credit reports (this should cost ~$30 each) to keep it from happening again. Also, pull your free annual credit report to make sure they didn't open any other accounts in your name

You've got options.

They'll just cancel the account I assume.

Reddit.com/r/legaladvice will give infinitely better advice, though the question has already been answered.

OP torrented too much porn on his mobile and now wants to deny having done it.

Maybe you want to go back here?

>I really don't want to call anyone or go file a police report
Uh why not, you’re just going to let who ever this is just go and suck up your money?

I don't really care about my credit or job prospects. I can't work anymore and I've got at most 1 or 2 years left to live. I'm more concerned about them sending collection agencies or the police to bother me and try to collect the debt.

Just pay the bill. You know they had good reason to need that phone.

You can also randomly change the number to their phone.

Send them penis pics, call them screaming at three am.

Not the guy who you’re replying too but if you don’t have much longer to live, you’re going to let this guy suck you dry and leaving you broke unable to do anything else you last two years of life?

How is he going to leave me broke? He doesn't have access to my bank account.

Oh but he does...

>getting triggered by a website

You have to be at least 18 years old to post here

Hes making you pay 707 dollars for calls you didn’t make......

How is he making me do anything?

He’s making free calls at the expense of you, OP I sincerely hope this thread is b8, you’re complaining about identity theft but you don’t want to do nothing about it, what was the point of this thread?

Go to the Verizon store now and shut this down!

This is a scam. Be prepared to show lots of ID.

>unironically defending re***t

You have to have at least iq 20 to post here.

The point, as stated in the op, is what will they (Verizon) do about it?
If they just shut down the account then I don't care.
If they get some other authority involved to try and reposes assets or access my accounts. Then that's more of a problem. I don't know the extent that a collection agency will go to pursue this.

Why in the fuck are you so obnoxiously hopeless and despondent? Why do you have 1-2 years left to live?

Get some fight in you, OP.

Verizon stores aren't going to do anything. You have to deal with their fraud department.

no

Reddit has a pretty good guide

Good advice.

Le ebin trole zoomer shitpost.

Then die like a whiny little pussy, faggot. There was no point in making this thread to complain about a blatant case of identity fraud other than attention and sympathetic ass-pats.

You sure are mad about something that doesn't affect you. Maybe you should talk to someone about your anger issues. If you can't answer the question then maybe you shouldn't post.

Shut the fuck up you cock-breather, we’re all in this together

I can't blame you, op. I was driving my mom's car the other day and got pulled over. Got a 10 day warning for the expired inspection. I really just want them to arrest me or take my money (I probably don't have enough honestly). Fuck this shit

They'll want you to pay. If you won't be able to pay they will likely seek a legal way to make you pay. Including lawsuits, aforementioned assets repossession etc. I mean, what the fuck do you expect? Identity thief makes you owe others money - you think they will just ignore it because you'll claim it's not you?

The guys going to die anyhow. I don't blame him for not caring. Fuck this bullshit society

He's gonna die in a year or two, not tomorrow. Even if he has no one who would give a shit or could get into a problem due to his debt, it's a choice between risking having a year or two of life at current level of comfort or spending it suffering from debts someone else racks up unlawfully and without OP's consent.

I'd just let them have it. Someone could finally enjoy my life

we're all gonna die, doesn't change shit.

You're right. I unsurprisingly still don't care about bullshit

That's your choice to make. But OP is worried about people taking his shit and whatnot for unpaid bills and that's indeed a realistic risk, thus not working out for OP. Which is why the warning.

True. Sorry op. But I wouldn't worry about it. Not worth the hassle, op
