Before I say what I think, I'm not advocating anything. The way capitalism has worked out in the West is companies make every decision on the slightest statistical change in their favor at this moment with no real consideration for morals, ethics, the long term health of their company or the economy in general. A company I used to work for chapter 11'd because they saw dollar signs with a contract they took and burned a lot of smaller contracts in turn. Eventually they were left with 2-3 big contracts that would always negotiate lower costs every year or threaten to take their business elsewhere. Eventually the contracts got to the point they were paying so little (20% of the original deal in one case) the company had to shut doors because all the old contracts wanted nothing to do with them and the big contracts had them by the balls. Short and simple? Free market only works when people are ethical and have morals. How many people you see nowadays when you step outside the door that are either? Expect things to only get worse and more things like boeing moving forward.

Because they'll just lobby the government to change the restrictions down the road. If it degenerates into something like how pharmaceuticals and automotives are treated, it's a obscene profit-gain in the long-term.

repost the poojeet'd MCAS system is garbage. it is required to get a certification. what MCAS does is counteracts the lift/moment caused by the engine cowlings on the MAX. what this means is the downward elevator trim is used to make it feel harder to pull up more into stall conditions. the 737 before the MAX would required steady force (pulling back) to get into deep stall territory. with the 737 max the engine cowling's component of lift makes it at a certain point easier and lighter to get into a deep stall. the f101 voodoo flight envelope did this long ago where a very light stick would manifest before deep stall conditions. the reason all the other shit on the 737 works pretty well is non shitskin/poo/pajeet/chink and other subhumans had nothing to do with it - it was cold war era stuff. the subhumans cant read or understand that code. the new code, MCAS, was written by subhumans. it relies on 1 sensor (WRONG, should be at least three) and was slipped in to the point where NG and flight simulator models were used to train for the MAX - the pilots were not told about this shitskin coded killer bot introduced into a system which has remained the same since the 1980s.
