How would UBI affect society?

How would a UBI of $1000 affect the american society? What are the most important positive/negative consequences that you can think of? NO MEME THREAD.

I agree with the conservative argument of landlords and other capitalist leeches stealing all of it
it should be triple of that + be ahead of inflation, also tax everyone to hell

inflation

My thoughts:
1) We would see a huge wave od deurbanization as people would search for cheaper housing and wouldn't have to flock to big cities for job opportunities.Rent and real estate prices would go down, and that's a good thing.

2) There would be a huge motive for automation for the most soul-crushing jobs, since noone would be willing to do them, at least not for minimum wage.

3) Wages for shitty jobs would go up. Wages for fun or fullfilling jobs would probably go down.

4) I wouldn't expect inflation in prices of goods where functioning, competive markets exist. Prices of luxury goods or where monopolies/oligopolies exist would increase though.

People would be free to move to rural areas, since the stress of finding the first available job wouldn't exist. I would expect ridiculous rents in big cities to go down.

Utility prices skyrocket and not much else changes. Lots of homeless people at clubs and such

Can you imagine KFC stocks and the ammount of record labels that will be started once the blacks find out they getting free gubmint money

>the amount of record labels that will be started

5) There will be a boost in creativity and artistic production

You know I'm talking about blacks, right?

Cost of living going up about 1k dollarydoos

Yes. Whites will create art too though. Most of the art created at any time is usually shitty. But there are diamonds here and there. More shit ---> More diamonds

>poor people blow all their money on stupid shit anyway
>yet prices increase
>poor people can now afford less than before
Yeah, fucking genius

No printing money. No inflation.

It would increase the inflation rate to roughly 40%. That is PER YEAR. Pretty soon your ATM would have to pump out million dollar bills to buy milk and the $1000 not buy you a stick of gum. You cannot create money without consequences.

We would turn into slaves and the government would become increasingly controlling. Browsing Jow Forums would decrease your revenue

White people are going to be sitting on their asses watching the office. Stop kidding yourself. People will still have to work.

Inflation along with rising asset prices.

The money supply wouldn't increase, since the money would come from redistribution and not printing. Therefore no increase in inflation.

i'm with this.
also people wouldn't be trapped.

Inflation isn't necessary for prices going up, is it? That 1k per person has to come from somewhere, and I don't think we live in a nice enough timeline where it would be cut from some useless expenditures. It'd be tax raises all across the board

Think of a two person economy. We have X quantity of resources that we use to live. Suppose that the money in circulation is 100. Person A has all the resources while Person B has 0. UBI comes and Person B gets 10 of currency. Do you think that Person A wlll be willing to sell his resources at 10? No he will increase the price. In summary, resources available will not change, and things, in terms of currency, will be more expensive.

Most people would still have to work but they would be in better bargaining position against employers since they wouldn't live paycheck to paycheck. Some people would choose a frugal NEET life. And that is a good thing.

And you think the rich will not avoid paying taxes to fund this?

In your example there is a monopoly, not a functioning free market.

In real life there are monopolies/oligopolies too of course. There you would see price increases. A good government should either break the monoplolies and establish free, functioning markets or nationalize those parts of the economy.

Ideally the money should come from taxing the super rich. But that is not reliable, since the rich find always ways to avoid taxation. Yang's proposal of VAT funding UBI is not ideal but it is realistic.

Jews: Invest in media & politics

White’s: Invest in the market & bitcoin

Asians: Start a family business

Blacks: drinkin 40’s & hookers & weed (we be oppressed)

I don't know the technicalities of UBI enough to argue, but if it's an exogenous injection of cash into the system, then the point that resources don't change is still true.

If it's a redistribution of income, then it will probably change incentives in the capitalistic system. If all of a sudden an entrepreneur has to give up a bunch of his revenue to support the rest of society, maybe he will not be willing produce, so I think productivity would be affected.

It's only a small ammount of the population that can budget like that. People will get into credit card debt because $1k a month isn't going to be enough to satisfy their need for fast food, porn, video games, and geek merchandise like pic related.

Imagine everyone in your country's bank account just doubled. Are there new things that were produced? No. So, what do you think will happen to prices once everyone gets used to the double money thing?

barely make up for the drastic cost of living increases caused by the 2008 bailout bubbles and globalization blowbacks.

I am not an expert neither, but people spending more money on consumer goods would give more opportunities for enterpreuners. People not living paycheck to paycheck and not risking absolute poverty if they fail, will also be a big incentive to risk and start small businesses or take bolder career decisions.

In a free market more new things will be produced to satisfy the increased demand.

In the Weimar republic they printed money.

Inflating takes less time than creating supply chains (and costs no resources)

Go away! Jow Forums is not for rational people.

Every form of welfare in my state is nearly double this proposal, and that's only counting the primary cash ones. You should check yours to see how stupid this sounds.

Minimum wage is barely more, but still isn't quite enough to live on. Transport costs rurally, living costs in urban areas.

Fucking retarded.

It's going to balloon the sub-survival income bracket. Creditors will prosper greatly. Shitty services and impulse buy companies also. For a time the permanent underclass will become a celebrated phenomenon, so you don't notice you've switched to getting assfucked without the lube.
Maybe more interesting circuses.

I'm a communist, and that involves work.

Rich people fleeing to places where there's no UBI, and more niggers and muslims will come for the free gibs. Perfectly balanced, like all things should be.

Well...

No need to. Production of goods on the existing infrastructure can easily increase.

Wang would have to print money to fund the program in the US. He doesn't understand how government works if he really thinks he can cut bloat and save money from other areas.

The MATH says he would only need to cut welfare and add a VAT. economic activity would do the rest.

He doesn't need to cut, it's automatic. People are given the option of their welfare programs or UBI. And many will probably even take UBI at a slight loss just to be free of the bureaucracy.
