The slow phase must be slow enough so that each successive generation

They have no idea of what was taken from them.
Accelerationism presumes we are still far from the fast phase

It might not be the official definition but usually what the idea is, is accelerating the growth and spread of chaos, degeneracy and conflict to unsustainabke levels, forcing change.
Basically make it so people can't just abstract from the current trends and just keep on living like nothing's happening, if everything is out of control they have to pick a side and make a stand or crash along with the rest. The end is coming anyway. We don't have a lot to lose to be honest. Hell, you could even argue that accelerationism is more merciful. What is better, a slow, increasingly vicious and violent decline that results in the end of Western society by the turn of the century? Or putting it out of it's misery within the next couple generations? The difference is, with the latter choice, we have a chance to stop it in it's track - we have a chance to break the conditioning now. Allowing it to go on will almost certainly result in more of the same. It's a gamble, yes, but like I said, it depends on what your definition of merciful is.
