Illinois has a massive pension problem that no one is actually addressing. That's why the taxes are so high and only going to get higher before an inevitable bankruptcy. I work in Chicago. (Loop, financial district). I’ve worked for CPS, a few colleges years ago and a few private consulting firms and a straight up big software house.

Every single Chicago shop I’ve worked in has been incredibly hostile towards the right. When I worked for CPS (in the admin building) — there was so much anti-trump rhetoric going on, Obama dickriders and hostile lefties... it was impossible to not feel like it’d be suicide to my job to express a different viewpoint. Sure I could easily just go work a block away and take a raise away from it, but if you weren’t ready to move, you better not make a peep.
