Infrastructure on the towers run on back up battery power, I used to work on them. Each provider ie cellc, vodacom,mtn in general will have their own back up battery banks, these battery's take hrs to days to recharge depending on the downtime of grid electricity.. So when loadshedding over a significant period of time happens the batterys obv dont gain enough of a charge. fyi battery's should rarely be forced to drop below 70% and most if not all by now will be, causing instability and even failure.
I'd guess, the more equipment on the tower, the more people will be using it and the more likely it will critically fail on back up power. It's an unknown disaster unfolding.
