This. Used engine oil has some fucking nasty stuff in it. If you put a dessicant in the pipe (silica gel packs or even rice) and seal the pipe with pvc cement, you shouldn't have any problems with rust and your lovely gun wouldn't be drenched in oil.

Used engine oil is full of particulates and heavy metals that can cause cancer. It'll deposit shit all over the internal mechanisms of the gun and of course, the barrel. If you don't clean the shit out of it before use, it'll probably be damaged by a phenomenon known as dieseling, look it up.

tl;dr don't soak your gun in used engine oil, or any oil really. Use dessicant packs and seal the pipe very well.

Dry pack the fucking thing and put dessicant packs in the pipe and completely seal it so moisture can't get in. The packs will take care of any moisture trapped in there before sealing.
