CO2 trapped in fossil fuels is simply CO2 that was once free and part of the carbon cycle on earth. Burning coal and oil simply returns that CO2 to the atmosphere where it once existed.
Even if we burned all the coal and oil on earth atmospheric CO2 levels would not exceed the 900 ppm of the Permian era ( 3 times modern levels during which time plant and animal life flourished fern forests covered almost all the land.
Also NASA predicts increased CO2 will lead to greater food growth because of more efficient photosynthesis (also will raise oxygen level)

CO2 levels were like 18 times higher during the Cambrian period than they are today. A period of Earth's history, mind you, that was marked by a dramatic explosion in evolution and diversification of life on the planet, and saw some of the largest organisms to ever exist on Earth due to the abundance of plant material and food for those higher up the food chain.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to claim that miniscule impacts on the climate due to human emissions probably won't have some negative impacts and cost us some money economically. But so would banning air travel and all the other loony shit liberals propose to mitigate our CO2 emissions, so you have to balance the tradeoffs.
But this doomsday scenario that the Earth is going to have some runaway greenhouse effect and life on the planet is going to cease to exist due to us burning oil is laughable. The planet has seen much, MUCH higher CO2 levels throughout much of its history, and not only did life survive, but it actually thrived.

That is correct. The earth could handle more CO2. But that doesn't change the fact we need to switch to sustainable energy sources anyway and of course, fucking up the atmosphere isn't a good thing.

Fun fact: US CO2 emissions are at their lowest level in a decade. We've reduced our gross emissions more than any other country in Europe (you know, those countries that love to point their finger and lecture us on climate change). And would you like to know how? It's not thanks to cap-and-trade or any other hair-brained liberal scheme to reduce emissions. It's largely due to hydraulic fracturing (you know, that ebil thing Democrats would have banned if they could) and the abundance of cheap, clean-burning natural gas it unlocked, resulting in many coal and oil-fired power generating stations switching to natural gas. Basically, the free market and oil industry has done more to reduce our CO2 emissions than any bureaucrat in Washington DC. You're welcome.
