Easier and quicker to build, you don't need a lot of time and resources to build a pallet house. With a freaking cabin you're tied down to one spot, and need to spend quiet a bit of time building it - and in the end what happens if someone finds your or wild animals chase you off? Now you've got a partially built cabin (that will soon be demolished) and now you have zero places to sleep comfortably.
