Adriana Solis, 23, of Mission — an art teacher at Juarez-Lincoln High School, which is part of the La Joya Independent School District — is charged with improper relationship between educator and student, a second-degree felony.
Investigators caught Solis with a 17-year-old student on Thursday night, according to Mission Municipal Court records.
When the officer approached, Solis jumped from the back seat to the front seat, according to the probable cause affidavit, which summarizes the incident. The officer observed a 17-year-old man sitting in the back seat, attempting to put his pants on.
“Officer Mendez then asked the Defendant [Solis] who was in the back seat, and she stated it was a 17 year old male student from work,” according to the probable cause affidavit. “The Defendant told Officer Mendez that she worked at Juarez Lincoln High School (La Joya ISD) and the male subject in the back seat was her student.”
“He stated that he had been dating/talking to the Defendant for about two or three weeks now,” according to the probable cause affidavit. “He stated that he had gone out with the Defendant once before, and it was for the same thing, to go to a park.”
“He stated that he removed all his clothing and had only left his under wear on,” according to the probable cause affidavit. “He stated that the Defendant had not taken off any clothing, but stated that they were kissing and doing other stuff.”
Solis told a similar story.
“She stated that she knew what she had done was wrong,” according to the probable cause affidavit.
If convicted on the second-degree felony charge, Solis faces a maximum of 20 years in prison.
