Thread for news about the election in the southern region of Basilicata.
Previously this year, Lega and their right-wing coalition has already won 2 elections in regions that were then governed by the left. Basilicata might be the third.
Voting ends at 11 pm. That is also the time when the first exit polls will be released.
And what happens if Basilicata goes right? Implications?
Brayden Hernandez
to be fair, basilicata going right isn't even the main issue to look for these regional elections are important because they tend to show the political mood of the country a victory for Salvini in a region originally hostile to him (and one that is historically left-leaning) would be quite big

since there will be elections for the EU parliament 2 months from now, these elections can give us a pretty good idea of what is going to happen
Joseph Walker
So Italy overall mood is shifting right? Thats a good thing.
Thomas Bailey
red = left-wing government blue = right-wing government
also remember that the exit polls do not mean everything for sardinia, a month ago, they predicted that the left and right-wing candidates would get a similar amount of votes, but in the end it was an easy victory for the right-wing candidate with a 15% advantage en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_Sardinian_regional_election
so do I but let's be honest, Lombardy isn't just Milan

Italy will need time to fully uncuck itself

that is true back in 2014-15 leftists were destroying us politically fortunately they made the huge mistake of trying to import the entire africa to italy + the economy remained shit, which eventually turned most people against them
It really is amazing just how quickly Lega have won support in the heart of terrone land.

What happened is quite simple, the left had control of the south on both national and regional levels. And after several years the economy did not improved at all, unemployment still very high in the south. Not only that, but they started to import so many africans which made things worse...

remember that voting ends at 11 pm and that is also when the exit polls are released only 35 minutes now
>in Basilicata PD won't even participate as PD but has a renamed list called Comunità Democratica The absolute state of PD. Need to hide their logo to get votes.
PD is only managing to do decently in local elections because they hide themselves in civic lists: a party list presented at an Italian local election which has no official connection with a national political party and which campaigns on local issues.
