Exactly this, if you go back enough generations the exponential propagation of 2 parents -> 4 grandparents -> 8 great-grandparents etc means that everyone ends up technically being a distant descendant of some famous historical figure from the general region. For example simple maths shows that most white Europeans must be descended from Charlemagne (60 or so generations), it doesn't mean anything, and even if it did we wouldn't bang on about it since we have actual accomplishments in the modern era to point to.
